    Mung Bean Soup

I used to make this alot in Thailand, but have forgotten what I put in it. Found some here and added chicken, carrots and onion, but the onion didn't work. Any recipes to share?

Miss Gordon. Would you like this thread trashing so you can start afresh after you manage to find out which beans you're trying to cook and after you're remembered the recipe?

If you mean mung beans then this is my way. Beans and water with plenty of chopped onion. Near the end of the cooking time I add curry power to taste. Sometimes I cook them the same as you do black beans or red beans. Mexican or Cuban style. Either way I serve over a few scoops of rice with ketchup and fresh chopped onion on top.

^ Ceburat, that is, I am sorry to say, the most disgusting mix of food I've ever heard of. Ketchup...are you related to the dearly departed Jackie Onassis?

GorGon, Marmers, GorGon. OK, do as thou whilst.

I guess it's mung beans (the green ones that give you free sprouts if you soak them too long). Please TD chefs, give me a recipe for mung bean soup, not spicy, NO onions. (coz when I made it with onions it didn't taste good, like I said in the OP) And in a mode of English. Kowchai mai?

    Basic Mung Bean Soup

    You will need:
    • 1/2 cup mung dhal (split hulled mung beans)
    • 4 cups water
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric
    • 1/2 tsp cumin seed
    • 1 tsp chopped fresh cilantro
    • 2 tbsps ghee
    • Rock salt to taste
Wash the mung dhal. Add water and the turmeric and cook until dhal is tender. Stir occasionally and remove any scum that forms on top.
Add salt and puree in a blender to a smooth consistency.
Heat the ghee until it is clear.
Add the cumin seed and stir briefly to release aroma and flavor. Remove from heat.
Pour the ghee-spice mixture over the soup. Stir.
Garnish with cilantro and serve hot.
    (Serves 1)

    NOT SPICY?
    Beans without onions?

    Mung beans, water - heat?

Try some different Lentil or Dahl recipes?
What it taste like? there are as many ways of fixing mung beans as there are of making cookies. Were the beans in your soup whole bean or split porridge type?

Ya, well, did I ask for a cookie f*ing recipe? No. I know how to make cookies and I only make peanut butter cookies and I make them well. I also do good rum balls.

Back to the f*ing topic, I want mung bean soup, not dahl. I want chicken in it and carrots. I don't want spicy because I want FLAVOUR not spicy.

Yeah, and now I'm back at a wat, so let's chant to get me the f*ing recipe for this. nam myoho rengyo kyo...

And who changed my title typo? I like mon. Wanklettes.
