Koh Chang for young family

I haven't been to Koh Chang in years because we like going to Chao Lao beach with the kids. However my daughter and her boy friend are flying here in January and I want to take them to Koh Chang. Does anyone have any recent experiences with a good moderatly priced resort/hotel that is family friendly. Parking will also be a big plus as we will have 2 vehicles. Thanks

High season on Koh Chang means high season prices. Too high for the family and I. We go in low season and end up paying right at 3000 a night for a family room to hold the twins wife and I. But in reality the room is overpriced at this rate. I just wont pay 5800 for the same room in high season.

Plenty of place for parking at the Thai Garden Hill Resort in Khlong Prao.
We brought our own wheels too.

I do prefer Chao Lao over Koh Chang though, but I guess that will be a bit too quiet for your daughter and her boyfriend.

alina grand was pretty good in early jan last year, 1300 online, with brekkie and a nice pool, still plenty of bargains to been found there

Have been to Kho Chang several times over the past year with my wife,she's Thai.We like Kho Chang Lagoon Resort Hotel in White Sand Beach.Stayed there last in Oct.Got a bungalow on the beach for 1,900 baht a night.In Jan. it's going to be a lot more.We also like Kai Bae,not at a resort hotel but not as much money and it's not as lively as white sand beach.Kai Bae Hut is on the water.Not sure about price in Jan.Paradise Bungalows were 550 baht a night in oct.That was with a/c also.Not the beach but a good value.I think the same ones are 1000 in dec.Lonely Beach is one of the best places for a family.Good Luck.

We opted for Alina Grand, hotel was nice and clean with a good pool area (cold fricken water though). Only negative for us was that the beach across the road was crap. We had to walk about 200 m to find a nice area on the beach where the kids could swim rock free. For single people it wouldn't be a problem but try packing all the necessities including water toys 4 kids demand. That 200m was a walk in hell.
