    Thai Geese

    So you don't want a guard dog well get some Thai Geese.



    Science Name : Anser indicus
    General Characteristics : The fully grownup will have light grey covering most of the body. The white head has black stripes lying from the eyes tip to the crown. There is another black stripe on the occiput. The neck is dark grey with white vertical stripes from the neck connected to the white color of the head. The flank has black horizontal stripes. The tail is white with grey stripes in the middle. The mouth is orange to yellow, and the finger is yellow. The bird that has not fully grow up has the same grey color as the fully grownup but the area near the crown and the occiput will be black which contrasts with white forehead. The face and the rest of neck area are white. The flank has no pattern, and the lower part of the body has the reddish brown marks.
    Habitat / Food : Can be found in the central of Asia, the north of China, Myanmar, and Thailand.The Bar-headed Goose eats paddy, corn, and millet which it causes the destruction to the farmer and gardener. Besides, it also eats grass and the plant sprout.
    Behavior / Mating : Lives in a troop near the river or the large freshwater source. Some troops may have upto 100 geese. In the daytime, it will stand to take a rest and sleep near the shoreline. In the nightfall, it will seek for the food.For the breeding of the Bar-headed Goose, there is no report of nest building and laying of eggs in Thailand.

    Far more common in India and China than Thailand. I've never yet seen one in Thailand and they are remarkably timid anyway. Not much of a guard-goose if it flies over the Himalayas to nest in China.
