How come theres speedos popping up left right and centre ?
And wheres Dr Andy gone ?
Have i missed summink ?
in my area in bangkok chang export is the only beer on the shelf. All the other beers (all 3 of them) have been sold out barely replenished for weeks. I have my thai garage/store spots that still have beers but 7/11, thai mart etc. have been out of brews for the most part for about 10 days. I was at Lotus at Seacon Square the other day and the entire beer section is filled with snack foods. Coke and Pepsi are all gone too. Its still dry here in Suan Luang, including the beer flow.
only 5% liquor in there. i thought the whole point of drinking a chang was to get smashed quicker?
do you have a link for that info on ingredients, or is it just hearsay?Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
I never saw anything of that nature on my visit to the brewery (Singha that is, not Bud)

Codswallop! The two are night and day. I've been drinking the export for the best part of three weeks and had a regular last night - fucking hell, I can't believe I've been drinking 50 per cent chemicals for so long - The award winners are now are thing of the past. Chang Export is without doubt the best lager in the shops at the moment..I'd even go as far to say it's FUCKING DELICIOUSOriginally Posted by Bettyboo
I presumed that as Chang is made improperly, Singha would be also to keep costs down.Originally Posted by DrAndy

Sorry Slaps, but you only drink shite, so slightly lighter shite may be massively better than really really shite to you...
Up in Bangkok-By-The-Sea we have other options: Gunness, imported wheatbeers, pilsners and, if you must, lagers... Once you open up your palate to the international standards then you'll quickly realize that all Changs are shite, some marginally less so than others, but they're all shite...
Cycling should be banned!!!
Where did you find Guinness, besides in bars?
If I'm in a proper supermarket I'll buy Erdinger Weiss, lovely stuff. If they don't have that I'll go for San Mig Lite. If just popping downstairs I'd usually buy Singha, but having had a few more of these Chang Malt Export last night I think I'd stick to that.
FP was telling me that all Guinness comes from Ireland now (for the last 6 months or more), maybe that is why the Guinness cans aren't available anymore; I'd love some of the bottled draft Guinness... I've seen cans of Murphys at various Centrals over the last few months; they also do a yellow coloured can of German wheatbeer at 89 baht (big can) which is miles better than any of the Thai stuff.
Sweet, gotta get some Murphy's. Any idea which Central? And where about (in the supermarket etc).Cheers.
Central Chitlom and Central Silom are the best for consistently having something (both had Murphys last week); Central Chitlom is the best place; ground floor food court. Also, if your at Silom, then the newly opened Shopping Centre under the massive Citybank (opposite Silom soi 6) has Soporro and the other nice Japanese beer (not Asahi, the other one) in 3 flavours (including dark); not cheap but very very nice. Isetan at the side of central world also has a nice Japanese food court, I think it's the 5th floor??? that has imported Japanese beers.
Central Chitlom always has the best selection of foreign beers and food in Bangkok. Good luck, put some pics up what you get!
We have the full range of O'Hara's beers in Udon now. They have 2 stouts, a red bitter, a pale ale and a wheat beer.
I stick to Leo, as I'm cheap.
^ I tried the O'Hara stout. Not impressed. Quite expensive too.
Leo is undrinkable shite; you've been here too long... what's next, a ladyboy?
Yes, O'Hara's is too expensive.Originally Posted by Bettyboo
As for Leo, the best of a terrible bunch for me. At least it's had some hops thrown at it at some point in its manufacture.

Well I have drank quite a few bottles over the last week and I am very impressed with the new Export. We bought 5 x cases last week and "blind tasted" it on a few customers. Almost everyone said it was great and who brewed it, when we told them Chang they could not believe it. It would also appear that drinking copious amounts of Chang Export does not result in hangovers!!!
I don't like normal Chang but the new export went down well. Not my beer of choice as I like my Heineken but was cold and drinkable
Agree with the above two. Surprisingly good and a very nice addition to the local market.
You and TFP?
Cute.
Cheers, just popped down to both Chitlom and Silom as had nothing much better to do.
Was just a week too late though. Nothing but WKD, Breezers, imported 'cider' and a few of the wheat beers. Stopped off in Villa Market on the way between them and nothing of interest there either.
I'm presuming it was the 500ml cans of Murphy's they had. That would be a very nice addition. Any idea how much they were retailing at?
^ damn, sorry about that. They are usually well stocked.
Yes, they were 500ml cans.
(FP's not gay...)
I have been addicted to Chang since the day it was first released. I have been working away for most of this year and noticed after a month or so that I was wearing my glasses less and less untill I stopped wearing them altogether....After each trip home I found I needed glasses again.....
So for sure I am going to try this new brew next week..!!!
