    Guinness

The local importer of Guinness has given up the franchise and very shortly there will be no more blackstuff on the market. Not great news for paddies day.

I know at least one English guy who may relocate. No Guinness in the LOS just too much to bear.

Never really seen the attraction myself but bad news for those that do.

SuperSport to be cut, now Guinness... Is this some concerted campaign against sports-watching, beverage-swilling, couch potato's or what?

    FlyingHigh,

DSTV, who broadcast Supersport and other channels for Africa, are stopping transmission on the global C-Band because of piracy, presumably under orders from FIFA, with the world cup starting in June.

Should be off BY 31st May.

They are transferring to two other satellites that only cover Southern Africa.

Unless it's retransmitted via another satellite I can't see how you'll ever see those channels here again.

True paid big bucks for premiership rights and I'm surprised they haven't kicked up more of a fuss about it - presumably the gangs that control WETV and Sophon are quite "influential".

But with no signal to rebroadcast on your cable, it becomes rather more difficult.

There is another TD thread on which more detail can be found.

As stout beer is my ancestral, cultural, dietary and genetic background , I can process the stuff properly and it is my human right to acquire, make and imbibe this food.

    So, I brew my own.

Any recipes require for the best, pm me.

I love Guiness on tap, but rarely drink it.

I rarely see Guinness where I live. In fact, I'm not eve sure it's here. I'll ask at an Irish pub in town.

Heineken are taking it over apparently, according to FP. No need to panic.

Luckily for you, you have Amber Stout which is much better than Guinness.

Ahh yes, I remember. The Underground in Saigon, right?

    Sadly, that place closed.

But I think Amber stout was very rare in Saigon.

ABC Stout has be drank really cold if not, it's um well pretty much un-drinkable, mind you though it is quite pokey i belive something like 6-7%..
I hear that the Khmers like to drink it mixed with condensed Milk and Coke Cola ...
The Malaysain stuff is just disgusting, i remember drinking a pint of it in Chiang Mai once and the taste just overpowered the otherwise lovely Beer Lao that i started drinking after it and stayed with me for the rest of the night, that one horrible pint of disgusting Guinness ruined a good nights drinking, the only way i could clear that taste was to drink a hefty glass of vodka...
    Travel lightly ....

A couple of years ago TAPB invited us to their headquarters in Bangers to sample Murphy's and Amber Stout; they were toying with the idea of a competitor to Guinness. Nothing ever materialised and looks like never will if they've aquired Guinness.

I had two awesome pints for lunch today, never drink it in Thailand though.

Wasn't celebrating Paddy's Day, despite him being Welsh, I wouldn't have ordered them if I knew.

Any one ever tried putting a double Tia Maria in a pint glass then topping it up with the black stuff ?
Its called a Dublin Milkshake tastes fine and does the damage.

I have only tried Guinness with Port or with Tullamore Dew.
