Mostly, Thai prefer whiskey to brandy. Johny Black carries the best kudos, basically because it is a Scottish scotch. If he is a refined taste Thai, a single malt would be well appreciated and set your gift apart. If in doubt though, stick to Black.

    P.S. Early- I like Black!

Yea and you probably mix it with cola.

Johnny Black is a status thing for Thai people.
If you gave them a nice single malt they'd probably drink with ice and soda.

Yes, mix it with cola and soda. Totally agree. Don't try to be creative with Thais and booze. It would bring a tear to your eye to see them mix up a nice vintage bottle of 18 year old McCallan with that shit and ice from the metal ice bucket.

Let them have their status with JW black label every time. Personally, I think it sucks and for similar price will choose Chivas every time.

I have met Thai men who don't drink, some by choice, some because of medical reasons. Could be embarassing when you buy a bottle of whiskey and he does not drink.

I want to buy him a nice bottle of booze. Do you have any ideas of brands that a Thai man is likely to really enjoy? Thanks!
An "expensive" bottle of wine is a sure win.
Makes them feel like they're recognised for having great taste.
Whisky is for you, small people.
This is what my Thai colleagues do, anyway, when they need such kind of favor from a school for their children...
