Fine drop, that Coopers Ale. It'll grow on you.
I think you've been a bit rough on the Stout, but in fairness it's a Stout drunk by people that think Guinness is for wimps. Perhaps an acquired taste.

^^ That glass is square.
Is it not possible to get hold of Tetleys with a widget? Its a great session beer
The best session beer ever, but im not sure if they export it.
The definitive English Bitter. This fine, golden coloured beer, now restored to 3.8% ABV, has a full flavour that lingers pleasantly on the palate. With a good bitter-sweet balance this beer has a robust hop character described as citrus and spicy. It’s a refreshing and very satisfying pint – noted for the aroma of its Fuggles and dry hopping strain Golding to add to its characteristic Theakston aroma.
Sex in a glass
A premium strength, ruby coloured ale with a rich flavour and full body. The balance between bitterness and fruitiness from the Bramling Cross and Fuggle hops used give XB the distinctively complex aroma, making it the beer to savour. A mans drink guaranteed to put hairs on your chest.
I dont have a clue as to the availability of beers such as these, maybe Marmite can let us know.
I aint superstitious, but I know when somethings wrong
I`ve been dragging my heels with a bitch called hope
Let the undercurrent drag me along.
sounds perfect for the thai market, no?Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

It used to be, but I think it's gone now. I never really liked from a can and it wasn't strong enough for the Thai market. When you're used to drinking beers at around 5%, the Tetley's just tasted like water.Originally Posted by astasinim
There are loads of beers available here (sadly 99% are shitty lagers), and hopefully I will get round to reviewing them all.
I could say know that you show again that you have no taste in beer, but as I told you on friday, this is not a fair judgement as you are obviously a bitter man, speaking beerwise of course. Veltins is a really good beer ut you judged even Miller higher than Krombacher, which is another really nice Pilsner.
This is like me writing a wheat beer review.
I think the next round of beer review we should do together to get a more balanced view on every test sample.
Fine with me. Any evening except Tuesday (Thursday is probably not a good idea either).Originally Posted by Fabian
Yea, but you need to introduce an Oz or kiwi to get some real authority and skill into the tasting team.

I've drafted in a German expert tonight, so we shall have less biased results.
So how do Chang, Tiger, San Miguel, and the other local bubbles rate?
Drink up get on with it.
For the Antipdeans I vote for Wanye Kerr to represent our interests, I would say he is a man who knows his beer.
No reflection on your judgment Marmers, but you haven't really got enough wrinkles to qualify as a seasoned tester.
^decent bloke that WK, but anyone who drinks chang is by no means qualified to judge/review a beer
^ ooops , sorry, Didn't know that, retract the nomination then,
Drinks Chang eh? and I thought he was such a nice man, just shows you hao wrong you can be

And whats wrong with wheat beers ?
PP suggestion has merit a cross section of judges is needed at least 4 .
Most think there home countries tipple is the gratest but there are great beers everywhere
And so little time to taste them
I will get to them eventually. We're testing Beer Laos & Leffe at this very moment!Originally Posted by Mr Earl

Beer Lao is my normal tipple when out on the town. It is lightly flavoured and easy to drink. It's not too gassy and is super clean so it doesn't give you a nasty hangover in the morning. It comes in at 5% and was only 60 Baht as I bought it from Shadow Bar on Soi Cowboy during happy hour.
It poured quite well, but lost its head fairly quickly. It has a light, clean taste with a delicate flowery sweetness. Because it is so inoffensive, it is very easy to drink and very moreish. A good session beer.
7 out of 10.
I am really looking forward to the next one...
I am really happy that this is becoming more widely available in various bars around Thailand. If it wasn't so strong, I would drink this all the time. Beer Lao Dark Lager is 6.5% and I also bought it from the Shadow Bar on Soi Cowboy for 60 Baht.
It poured very well and had a good head which didn't disappear. The first thing you notice is the nice burnt malt taste. It's not overpowering; it's just there giving the beer just the right amount of flavour. For a strong beer, it is not at all syrupy and I would've guessed that it was much weaker, because it is so well balanced taste-wise.
Absolutely lovely.
8.5 out of 10.
Now, lets see if those Belgian chaps have learnt how to make a decent beer yet...

Now that dark Lao seems right up my street. One to try for sure.
