I couldn't find a thread for rubbish, undrinkable wine. That is surprising, considering how much of it there is sold here.
There I was in Lotutheth walking smartly past the wine shelf which holds no interest at all, when I noticed something new. It kind of stood out because since Tesco fled these shores my local Lotutheth has had an almost empty wine shelf. Here in the empty spaces were two varieties of 'Shack', Australian Shiraz and Cabernet, bottled especially for Lotutheth, according to the lablels. Both reds were priced at B460, a premium over the basic B399 plonk usually offered. Always ready to sacrifice my body in the cause of wineful research I invested 460 coins in the Shiraz and carried it off home.
Which was a mistake. I am not going to bother digging out the thesaurus for some special adjectives to describe how poor this stuff is. It's only redeeming feature is that in some future time of crisis I might one day buy the B399 plonk, knowing that it is not actually the worst in the shop.
Monty Python nailed it: "This is a wine for laying down and avoiding."
