    Worst spirit/liqour in Thailand?

    - for some reason I decided to buy a bottle of 'John Langer' the other day

distilled pigs urine tastes better I'm sure, still at 195B a bottle it's hardly surprising - gotta be the worst I've come across here yet and it's likely to end up down the sink

any cheap 'whiskies' here that are more palatable?

What's cheap? I think 100 Pipers is OK. Some people like Benmore (sp?) better. I think they're both around 300 baht for 700 ml.

Master Blend is okay, hell they are probably all ok if you drown them in coke, but I prefer soda.

100 pipers is at least genuinely scotish. The stuff in the 150 baht - 250 baht range is either locally made or from India or somewhere.

Aye, Regency and Sang Som are a good tipple.

The Lao kAo with the light blue label from 7-11 etc is absolutley horrific.
Anybody that drinks that, i will avoid.

I'll stick with 100 Pipers. The Regency and Sang Som reminds me of the random alcohol content I got from San Miguel and Red Horse in the RPI twenty years ago.

I thought Sang Som was rum, not whisky.....? It's not too bad.

I also like Mekong whiskey -- which tazstes like rum. Very cheap too.

    thai liquor

I took 6 bottles of Lao kAo back to London, couple of years ago.Gave it all away to people I know and told them it was Thai Tequila.
Far as I know, it was all thrown down the toilet and everyone asked me NOT to bring anymore for them, as it is crap !

LOL... We're talking about cheap booze that's JUST beyond the absolute worst hog piss you can find. Genuinely Scottish is just about of the least concern.

That said, I completely don't do 100 Pipers, not because it's not Scottish but because it tastes TERRIBLE. They obviously tried to approximate a 'whisky' type taste & smell and it's horrific. Horrific disgusting illnesses the next morning, too. ("Illness", not hangover; I can accept hangovers but not what follows drinking more than a sip of 100 Pipers.)

Has anyone tried Karinthip and Hong Thong? They're a little cheaper than Sang Som but I'm scared to try them.

Indeed. And it's VERY suitable to make Ya Dong (herbal liquor) by adding the herbs & spices and let it sit for a while.
