Over 20,000 followers attend Spiritual conference in Jomtien.

On Wednesday Morning at the Ambassador City Hotel in Jomtien more than 20,000 people attended a one day conference hosted by Supreme Master Ching Hai from Vietnam. The media were not allowed inside the conference hall but we do know that Supreme Master Ching Hai aged 60 was born in Vietnam but now lives in China. She traveled to many countries searching for Truth. Eventually, while in seclusion in the Himalayas, she became enlightened. Currently the Supreme Master Ching Hai offers the Supreme Method, also known as the Quan Yin Method of meditation which she had acquired to those who sincerely believe in and search to practice the Way of Truth. Followers from as far a field as Vietnam attended the conference, however what actually went on in the Conference Room is unknown as we were not permitted access.

I'd take a bet that her meditation technique requires a course manual in five parts each with accompanying cds plus an effigy and portrait sold as non profit based for the furtherment of enlightening other poor saps.

With 20,000 rolling up she could get away with charging admission as well.

Of course she could be the real deal, in which case I'm devolving on my next incarnation.

Chon Buri _ Ambassador City Jomtien Hotel in Chon Buri remained sealed off for the second day yesterday after tens of thousands of members of the Ching Hai Association continued their meditation inside. Thousands of people, including foreigners, flocking in front were not allowed inside the hotel in Sattahip district where Chinese staff administered every aspect of the event, including security and serving vegetarian meals.

Event organiser Laddawan na Ranong, a lecturer at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, said spiritual leader Ching Hai and her followers made the pilgrimage to get together and practise.

Followers came from 56 countries to learn meditation and lifelong practices from her such as diet and the five Buddhist precepts. They came from different faiths, she said, and cited Buddhists, Muslims and Christians as examples.

The purpose is not to preach or solicit members, but they are in search of spiritual enlightenment. She added that the association has a branch office on Sathorn road. Thailand was picked as a venue for the pilgrimage for its inter-religious understanding.

Assistant hotel director Anusak Rodboonmi said outsiders are not allowed to observe the meditation going on in the main meeting room. He said everyone would like to meet the spiritual leader, believed to be a reincarnation of the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin.
The hotel served as the association's practice venue six years ago, but not on such a grand scale, he said.

Guanyin was the original animist earth mother goddess of the primitive tribal people of China. She is the goddess of everything to her followers.

A nice blending of Buddhist and Pagan beliefs.

Concerns over Spiritual Seminar at Jomtien Hotel.

The spiritual conference currently taking place at the Ambassador City Hotel in Jomtien hosted by Supreme Master Ching Hai as featured on yesterdays show is continuing until 3rd December and on Friday Morning our journalists went back to the location in an attempt to speak with the Supreme Master and find out exactly what her spiritual teachings include. Government authorities and Police attempted to find out more about the conference on Friday Morning as they were suspicious as to why the conference was being held here in Thailand and not in China or Vietnam, and why there is so much secrecy surrounding the event. National security concerns have also been discussed by authorities but for now we understand the Police are confident that the situation is under control and there are no concerns over the conference which finishes on Sunday.

Guanyin is the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvarara in Mahayana Buddhism, symbol of compassion, the equivalent of the holy Mary in Christianity.

Disappointment as the Supreme Master fails to attend the closing ceremony of spiritual seminar in Jomtien.
We have been closely monitoring the conference taking place at the Ambassador City Hotel in Jomtien, hosted by Supreme Master Ching Hai from Vietnam. Sunday was the closing day of the spiritual conference which left thousand of delegates disappointed as the Supreme Master, who promised to attend the closing ceremony, was nowhere to be seen. Her lack of attendance upset many followers of this spiritual teacher who has many hundreds of thousands of followers around the Asian Region. All that was left for delegates to do was some last minute shopping for souvenirs before they boarded their coaches and left the Hotel. We will never know what went on at the conference and why Ching Hai decided to leave early.

A lesson in materialism, or perhaps just keeping them hungry.

Kuan Yin is the Chinese name for the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara. However, folk traditions in China and other East Asian countries have added many distinctive characteristics and legends. Avalokiteśvara was originally depicted as Buddha when he was still a prince, and therefore wears chest-revealing clothing and may even sport a moustache. However, in China, Kuan Yin is usually depicted as a woman. Also, some people believe that Kuan Yin is neither man nor woman.
When buddhism moved into China GuanYin was linked with existing deities and changed from the prince Avalokitesvara into a female more atuned with the orginal earth mother worship of the primitve Chinese peasantry.
No, I can't find any links to this, but I read of it in a history of Chinese buddhism many years ago now.
