Pattaya - Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak

Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak, the Father of Royal Thai Navy, well thats not quite what the sign said as google had never actually heard of the sign transliteration before, yep another great sign in Thailand with nonsensical Thai attempts at translations, anyway this is the mountain next to Buddha mountain and obviously overlooks Pattaya and Jomtien beaches and resorts, no idea how the guy whose statue is up there died as he wasn't on a horse, probably died of boredom due to lack of wars.
It is also called The Monument for some reason, would hardly call a place with a small statue "The Monument", seems to allude to it being grand and all that.

So is this place worth visiting? Well it has that statue and the view is ok, it also has the local FM radio station here, it probably is worth visiting if your down the road from it, wouldn't travel to far to see the place though, actually the only reason I went there was to see if the mountain bike race would be starting there tomorrow as the hill down is really steep and I thought I could get some accident pictures.

If you are thinking of taking guns here just make sure you don't fire them as there are stern warnings against this.

Anyway here's some pictures of the view so thar should save you the bother of going there.

And a view of the Islands of which one is Koh Larn Island.

Time to have a look at the Temple area, not very impressive is it

    One of the bell towers.

Some Buddha statues to pray at, next door to this sat a Lone Monk, I assume he is the resident fortune teller, I didn't bother asking him as he probably knew I wouldn't.

Loads of gold covered Buddha images overlooking sordid Pattaya.

    Mr Fat Buddha.

They also don't have an incinerator to burn the dead in either.

    Pattaya Temples

As you can see they have loads of model elephants, wonder whether people pray at these, of course where Thais go there has to be food, I quite liked the coffee place set up in the VW, saves dumping it I suppose.
