Thailand, it really is paradise. I prefer the beaches at the Southern end.

Nah ... I'm not too sure .. but I think it's something to do with this stuff called "rain" They get a lot of it in the wet season.

Indeed. I'd love to ride on a proper bike from BKK down to the ferry. We got a private taxi from Eckamei (sp) to the ferry for 2500 baht after a half hour of bartering. At first, the guy wanted 5000 and I laughed. Coming back to BKK was even cheaper as we got one of those mini-buses at the ferry. 600 baht for three of us. The only downside was that it did rain quite a bit but that never dampened our spirits. The wifes daughter loved it as she'd never seen the sea or a swimming pool before.

No you have not. Thats just damn silly. Chang is a great island for a few days. But it sure is hell no Samui, and Samui sucks, but it sure as hell is no Phuket. How do you get around on Koh Chang? Where do you surf? Where do you windsurf? Come on get real.

I thought the appeal of Chang was that it's a good place to relax and chill and get away from the hoards of windsurfers, jet skiers etc.
You can use logic to justify anything. That's its power. It’s also its flaw.

No jet skis on Kata, and windsurfers are usually offshore having fun. Or beginners who pose no problem.

I love Koh Chang, but feel its getting very overpriced. I can get double the room for much less on Phuket. Tree Tops there is a great place to take older kids and teenagers. You must realize I am speaking as a parent of just turned teen agers.

Hell go to Bali, its cheaper than either now with Air Asia.

You definitely won't have the place to yourself in January, and you will also find prices will have doubled. The green season is a good time to holiday here.

Stick the missus and kids in a taxi and rent out a bike. It's a bloody nice way to cruise on down there, as it's Thailand the roads are brilliant for riding. Everytime I've gone down there I've had the highway road to myself... simply brilliant.

Stayed at White Sand Beach resort last April, room was okay for what I paid, it was not even a meter from the water at high tide. Service at the local restaurant was crap, but then again we ended up down at KC most of the time, good food and decent music.

More like honest. But I did admit to almost editing the post as it was too strong. So if I offended you sorry. But I still beg to differ on Chang being better than Phuket.

A Thai colleague visited Bali, she loved it and said t'was cheaper and better than Thai options. Too many Australians is the downside...

You, of all people, should know better. She's from Chainat. The thing is, some people can live their entire lives and even go further than the postal area that they live in.

    Think about it.
