We had lamingtons in Laos.

I assume there is a good chance though that your grandmother made one of your parents, maybe both for all we know![]()
You did not really have to explain it to MM.....he is smarter than you thunked obviously.
It is worth driving to Vientiene to get a lamington, take my word for it.....the little bakery next to the fountain in town.....hmmmmmmm.
It is called the Scandinavian Bakery and I have breakfast there every morning I am in town. Must admit I never noticed the Lamingtons.
So we drove from Khao Yai to Nong Khai the first night, camped on the river banks in the swish hotel you can see on the left as crossing the bridge.
A coupla nights in Laos, searching for TGBM.....not much here really.
Found the markets in NK...again, not much, bought some lego for the kids.
Then set of to search some more for the elusive GBM.....stoppen in Udon Thani for a night, then went to the Isan Jurassic Park and onto Udon Ratchatani for pizza.
This was the most memorable night as we gave Udon town a free show from the window of the swankiest hotel....some cars stopped and some somtum buyers across the street were dribbling.
Then onto PoiPet the next day, to TGBM of Cambodia.
Here we spent the day cycling around the kilometres of stalls.
Bought some bullocks skulls and horns....long curly ones, like in Bonanza.
Nearly bought a leopard cat skin for the wall.....but thought they do look better running around the jungle, but then thought that nobody sees them in the jungle and more people would get to see it and enjoy it if it was hanging on my wall.....6/10k though.....so forfeited it.
2 nights here in a nice hotel with colonial style pool and surroundings.
Then home.
No more lamingtons.
I like poisoning my neighbours dogs till they die cos I'm a cnut
They are just small bits of crappy sponge with a coating.
Fucking Lamingtons
Sponge cake you muppets

Oh and btw - it is Ubon Ratchatani not Udon!

Took the car....did not realise they drive on the wrong side of the road over there.
Got one 200b ticket for driving wrong way down a one way street on the wrong side....go figure.
Did a U turn and coppers popped out, blowing whistle, kept driving and they did not follow.
Klong....TGBM...it was in another thread, TheGreatBorderMarkets....we was in search of them.
