    Walking Street/Pattaya

Last night I went out to see if I could find a library here in Pattaya. I thought it would be nice to catch up on some reading and just let the rest of the world go by for a bit.
Strangely, while walking in South Pattaya, I bumped into a couple of mates who convinced me to come with them on a tour of Walking Street.
For those of you that dont know, Walking Street is the Soho of Pattaya with all manner of folks from all over the world traipsing up and down right throughout the night.
What struck me most about Walking Street is just how busy it is. There must have been 50,000 people there.
Some glamorous, some sick and some just downright sad. If ever you are feeling low and in need of cheering up, I would recommend a soiree down Walking Street to cheer yourself up.

Just one of a myriad of folks was this guy who is an amputee that sells flowers from his wheel chair on Walking Street.

Walking Street is really quite a long bit of road that is lined with bars and restaurants and neon on signs light up its entire length.

All along the soi you are welcomed by gals spruking for your custom in the many bars. These gals here are from the local netball team and just helping out at night at their Uncle's bar.

Of course Walking Street caters to all tastes and if you arent careful you can be mistaken in thinking that everything is as it seems.

This bloke for instance. At first glance you would think that he was your kid sister but such is not the case. His name is Norman and in the day time he works as a truck driver for the Muang.

Of course Walking Street attracts some pretty moody types and it was good to see that the Tourist Police where there on duty looking after us falangs.

hehehe. You may just have to check it out for yourself Mark.

Snaf and I did a few circuits of Walking St again last night. You couldnt have wiped the smile off his face with a cricket bat.

It was really crowded last night and I guess that had something to do with the Chinese New Year.
It seems that my pole dancing lessons had been the talk of the gals coz as we walked along we were constantly called out to by other gals wanting a few tips on the ol' pole. "Hello. Welcome. Come sit down. Sexy man." were just a few of the comments made. Of course, I am used to the adulation but I think it was a bit much for our Snaff so we headed into a few of the gogo's for a quiet drink away from the madding crowd. We ended up in Peppermint Gogo which I now think has a far superior show than any I have seen to date. It was a real cabaret atmosphere and included interaction with a couple of fools from the audience who ended up with their pants around their ankles.

Now let me dispell the myth that only Thai gals work the bars on Walking Street as this bar provides gainful employment to gals from Europe. Sorry about the picture quality but my hand was shaking as I hadnt seen a western gal dancing in weeks.

You can view all these pics and many more in the Gallery. I put them into the dogs gallery just in case someone thinks that I am a sex tourist.

Of course all this walking is thirsty work so we decided to find a nice bar where we could have a few Sa-prites. It was a difficult decision as there were so many bars to choose from.

We ended up walking up one of the many soi's that lead off Walking Street and eventually found a nice relaxed place called Billion Bar. We had a nice chat with some gals in there and then went next door to Blue House.

I took a friend and his girlfriend down Walking Street last year; she is an Indonesian woman who has led a fairly sheltered life.

We visited a few girly bars and to be democratic included one of the gay joints in Boyz Town, expecting her to be interested in the the young chaps with bulging Y fronts. Surprise, surprise she was far more interested in the girly bars, which gave her an opportunit to compare her own equipment with that of the other girls. She was very surprised at the range of sizes she said.
    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

I can't believe how busy walking street is this time of year. I love the cheap beer at the gogos, though. A few weeks ago I found one with draft heineken for 20 baht!

One of my favorite bars on Walking street is "Abbes," because I like the music. And you can people watch too, if you sit near the part close to the street.

Happy hour at Champions is fun. Like the DJ.

    The bar? "Abbes?"

"Abbes" is a beer bar. A few girls work there and go with folks, but I go there for the music and to people-watch. I usually warm up at Abbes with one or two beers.

Then, when Happy hour startes, I go to "Champions." Champions is my favorite. Music, atmostphere, cool DJ (don't know if he's gone, now, it's been 10 long months since I was in Pattaya).

"Happy A-go-go is cool" but packed and I have one or two there.

"No. 10" bar (if still around) has music I like.

I have a few other places I hit.

I did go to the Russian Go-go last year, out of curiosity.

I don't focus on the women much anymore.

I can't drink too much these days, if I drank a couple in all those bars I don't think I could focus on anything anymore.
