Thread: Short trip to Bangkok

After breakfast we headed for MBK and ended up walking a lot further than we should have done after going completely the wrong way at some point. That's the worst thing about Bangkok for me . Something can be within 1 km away, but unless you know your way around, an absolute pain to get to.The hotel does have a free Tuk tuk which will take you to the nearby main places at certain times but that would have been waaay too easy .

I had planned on getting a new phone but bottled out in the end after an Indian (there's a lot of Indians working there- how do they do this ?) tried to sell me an S9 for 9000baht then finally admitted it was a Vietnamese copy. I decided to wait and get a phone in Khon Kaen which is just as good really albeit on a smaller scale. At least I'd have more of a chance of recourse in Khon Kaen.

Stopped for a relaxing coffee and iced tea in MBK at the cafe kaldi on the phone floor.









Later we ended up outside Madame Tussauds in Siam Discovery but the mrs wasn't interested in going in especially after seeing loads of kids all lined up ready to invade.


I then took her to water world in Siam Paragon but she wasn't interested in that either so it was now time for a late lunch which she's always interested in.
Whilst wandering I'd noticed an Ibis hotel that did an all you can eat buffet. It's part of the accor group so with my accor plus card I can buy one get one free. The restaurant is called The Eight on the 8th floor of this hotel https://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel...am/index.shtml and the buffet lunch is 599 baht with free flow water + soft drinks.







I love this knife it should be mandatory at all buffets, you can place it on the table whilst diving in for more grub and it won't get dirty/leave a mess. Does anybody know the name of it ?




the buffet was ok but I wish I'd had the Thai food because the meat in my dishes was like chewing a flip flop. I had the beef steaks with pepper sauce (which must have evaporated away) and some chicken stew. In both the meat was too dry. The salad bar was good and they a variety of potato salads which I didn't notice in the beginning . There was also some cheeses and various fruits.

I decided after a nice hot bath and a couple of beers to have another go at seeing some snooker. There was only 1 semi final left to play and it involved the only remaining Thai player Akani Songsermsawad v the English top 10 player Kyren Wilson so I was expecting it to be sold out. The venue is not far from Chatunak market so if we didn't get in we could see if anything was going on around there .

So it's MRT from Ratchgathewi to Mo chit , short walk to Chatunak MRT station then 1 stop to Phahon Yothin followed by a walk through another mall to get to central plaza lad prao.
It was sold out but the lady let us have a look through the gaps in the seat stands and upon completion of a frame we managed to grab some empty seats and so bought 2 tickets for 200 baht each.


It was now I realised I had forgotten to pack my upskirt shoe cam which Luigi had so kindly put me onto



This was the only hold up on the journey, buying MRT tickets at Chatunak. We had to que for about 20 mins.































Wilson won 7-5 after a brief fight back from Akani from 6-2 to 6-5 and eventually went on to beat Ding Junhui in the final.

Day 3 and we decided (more like the mrs did) to go see the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. So after breakfast we got the hotel to call us a taxi. The hotel staff were great in that when your taxi arrived they would take down all the taxi details (and make a point of letting the driver see this) and give you a little card with a map of the hotel location, contact numbers and email of the hotel and popular destination points so you could easily instruct drivers.

It was free to get in for Thais and 500 baht for foreigners. Inside was a photo bombers paradise.

This has an uncanny resemblance to the mrs on a bad day when I've done something wrong.

This woman was one of the most miserable looking women I've ever seen.
