On December 6TH we visited the royal gardens at the King Rama IX Park in Bangkok. The park was built for celebration of his 60TH birthday in 1987. It is a gardens wrapped around the Rajamangkala Pavilion. The pavilion consists mostly of photos of King Rama IX. So, no photographs of photographs of King Rama IX – for the most part you’ve seen them all anyways.
Interesting that the Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT) hosted a Thai Culture and Handicraft Exhibition and Display over the course of Dec 1 to Dec 10. I saw no mention of it or advertisement for it in any of the English news venues. Visited on Dec 6. Attended by quite a few Thai’s, didn’t see any falang or tourists although there may been a few. My Thai family reports not too many visitors. Normal attendance for the park even though the exhibition was on.
Not too much trouble finding parking although the lots were overflowing full. Only had to wait a couple of minutes for a spot as others left the park. We were there in the morning and the “Culture Show” was at 4 PM on the 6TH. The ten-day agenda was pretty sparse. They did have a dozen or so booths manned by artisans showing off their craft skills.
Pictures are pretty self explanatory.
