JAZZ TRIBUTE


Jazz fans in Bangkok will have a rare chance to hear the music of Stan Getz performed by renowned American saxman Greg Fishman and the swinging Jeremy Monteiro Trio at the Living Room of Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit from May 22-June 8. The showtime is 9-11:45pm on Tue-Thur and 9:30pm-12:15am on Fri-Sat.
Chicago-born Fishman began playing the saxophone at the tender age of 13; the beginning of an illustrious musical career that has seen him play with a string of great names.
His natural affinity with Stan Getz makes him the perfect musician to give a faithful performance of his music.
Getz himself was a tenor saxophonist of the highest rank who spent his life pursuing purity of musical expression. When he died in 1991, he was one of the most respected jazz figures among musicians, critics and listeners.
The remarkable jazz pianist Jeremy Monteiro and his awesome trio will also accompany Fishman for this inspiring tribute session. Monteiro has over 25 years experience as a professional musician and has won worldwide critical acclaim. At home in Singapore he has been dubbed the "King of Swing".
Together, Monteiro and Fishman are a musical tour de force. After extensive touring, the pair teamed up to record an album. Released in 2005, "Only Trust Your Heart" is an intimate collection of beautifully composed and executed acoustic jazz ballads. For more information, call 02-649-8353.
