Thumbs up Khanom - The Best Beaches in Thailand!

I've been living 5 years in Pattaya, 4 years in Phuket, 1/2 year in Pengang and Langkawi in Malaysia....and yet I have to see more beautiful beaches than we have in Khanom.

Khanom is located at the mainland opposite Koh Samui and midway between Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat!

This is just an awesome place!!

Take a look at these photos:

Indeed, was down there about 4 years ago looking at beachfront land. Million baht a rai. White sand.

Problem was there was nothing there. No electric, no water, no road to the land. No neighbours. Perfect for Robinson Crusoe, but not me.

Copy that, been down there a couple of times. Wish I would've taken more photos. Not a lot of tourism infrastructure, I hope it stays that way.

Well, I was pretty astounded at the big waves when I was down there. Biggest I've ever seen in Thailand, maybe it was just a storm blowing thru, not sure.

I pulled a dummy and turned my head sideways, got smacked by a big wave that blew out my eardrum. Not fun.

Khanom is a nice place. I lived nearby for a few years and that was my weekend away destination. It was usually deserted, prices for bungalows were cheap, and there was great seafood. Usually went the entirety of the weekend without seeing another paleface.

It's definitely changed in the last few years. The beachfront land next to my old standby has been sold and is currently being developed for "houses for farang," according to the people to whom I talked. A lot of land has been sold, and a lot is still being sold. Farang-oriented restaurants, bars, and hotels are opening up, and someone told me there was even a Russian karaoke joint. Not sure about that one.

    Nice pics, by the way.

Good place to invest now, still underdeveloped by most standards.

Looks lovely. Sad to hear it's being developed already. But where isn't?

almost bought some land there, quite cheap

a disaster waiting to happen though,

once the local monkeys try to monetize it, it will turn into shit like everything they do

I found Khanom very similar to the beaches of Prachuap, Baan Krood, Thap Sakae and Bang Saphan.
Very nice, but doesnt compare to the beaches at the islands.
