BTW I forgot to add...why has Pattaya become so expensive since last year??? I've been coming here each year for a month for the past 6 years and so I can tell the difference. Ladies now ask 1500 ..even in the cheapest joints in soi 6 or 7. Add to that the poor exchange rate and it is so much more expensive than last year......Still great fun but why the increase in prices?? especially when there are so few farangs around??

During the day we'd trek through the jungle to get to Lonely Beach - stocked up with loads of munchie food and fishing/snorkelling gear. We'd get wrecked catch some fish, crabs, and have a feed. Usually we'd never see a soul all day except one time this 50 yr old hippie bloke suddenly appeared - he would regularly walk around the island (or so he told us). He gave us some Nepalese putty - bugger it took us hours to get out the jungle that day!! The jungle is way spookie at dusk.

In about '94, apparently a german woman was raped and murdered, along with her boyfriend, on LB by some 'Cambodian' (wouldn't be Thai of course) fishermen.
Went there every year for 4 years in the early 90's - went back there 4 years ago - what a pisser. They'd built the road to LB and bungalows/resorts were there. Walked along the beach which was strewn in plastic shit and syringes lying around. Picked the kid up and fukt off - never to return.

Retracking ones youth/younger days can be SO disappointing. I'm sure it has happened to all of us.

i arrived on samui in 1987 and it was still brilliant. the airport opened in 88 and all of a sudden the fat arsed german tourists rolled in.

foked of to koh phan gan and lived at tong nai pan. awesome as only a few back packers found there way there.

full moon party kicked off at had rin and all of a sudden the fire twirling techno crew moved in and foked it up.

moved on to koh tao in 89 and thought id found nirvana.

started up the second diving operation and now theres 42 of them.

foking glad i sold out in 96 but its still the best place to go in the golf of thailand.

still full of cracking looking backpackers with top bosums and fat german bastards are a very rare sight.

^Yeah don't bother with Koh Samui. I spent a few days there last week and I can't believe how much it's changed in the past few years. I first arrived 3 years ago and Lamai was virtually deserted. Now it looks like Pattaya. I won't be going back.
