She can apply for any job she likes in the UK, she will find that the peice of paper with 'masters' written on it does not hold anything near the weight it does in Thailand.

Her English skills are going to be the most important consideration.

    Good luck to you both.

That's a masters in commerce from a Thai uni?
Maybe she could get a job as tea lady at the chamber of commerce.

A friend of mine has a Thai wife and she first worked as an Admin Assistant in UMIST (Manchester Uni). She now works in some office, again as Admin Support.

Her English is excellent and she was only Bachelors qualified I believe. Not sure what the details were regarding the paperwork required for the companies, or her to get those jobs though.

    I could ask if necessary?

Depends what type of visa she has whether she can work or not, not fokin easy to get a job in the UK at the moment, i've been back since Dec 14th after 9 years in Thailand and still scrounging off the state, and a few potential employers who have actually been honest to me have a problem with me being out the country for so long, must have applied for near on 100 jobs since being back, from serious shite to stacking shelves on the night shift in supermarkets and nothing doing, and it's getting worse.

Thats not good. There is a thread on the ajarn board about some one who went back to UK afer years in Thailand and similarly had great trouble in finding employment. From that thread he was at one point reduced to living in a Wat in UK. Think he has basically given up, and is trying to find anyway he can to get back here.

I wish you luck in your job search, but its a bloody sobering thought for those of us who have been out country for the best part of our adult lives.

From what I read it's going to keep getting worse for some time to come.

Not sure that she will be that much worse off than a UK grad with a Masters in "commerce". It sounds like one of those Masters prgrams that look like a really good idea - until you try and actually use it in the real world.

Have a shufti around and see if any of the companies in your area are doing buisness with Thailand maybe?

If you are in London she could take her government teaching papers and then apply for a teaching job at SOAS, they run Thai language BA courses combined with others.

Why don't you call the Thai consulate, Thai chamber of commerce or any similar organism, and get a list of Thai companies in your area. Then your wife can then check with them if they have a job suitable for her.
