    Banglamung - Orange kills man

A man was reported dead to the Banglamung police on 13th December at 7 pm. The police quickly rushed to Chokchai Village 5 located in Soi Khao Noy where the incident happened to investigate.
When the police arrived, they found 44 year old Mr. Jaran Hommanee lying dead on his

bed. There were no signs of disturbance in the house whatsoever.
The police then questioned Mrs. Bu-Nga, aged 50 – the deceased’s friend, and the first person who found Mr. Jaran’s death. She stated that Mr. Jaran rented this house from her and on the day she came to collect the rent. When she arrived she called the deceased from outside because his car was parked there but he never answered, which was why she entered the house. When she went to the bedroom, she saw Mr. Jaran convulsing on the bed with blood and pieces of orange coming out his nose. She quickly ran out to ask for help from the neighbors but when they returned, he had already died so they informed the police.
The police think that the deceased must have eaten some oranges and somehow it got stuck in his throat and then went to his bedroom and then started convulsing. However, this is just a theory; Mr. Jaran’s body was sent for autopsy anyway to find the true cause of death and the police will contact his relatives.

THE UNLIKELY CASE OF THE DEADLY ORANGE
On 14th November, at 00.30 am, the Sawangboriboon Foundation rescue team, accompanied by Police Sub-Lieutenant, Nitipoom Butwong, were called to the scene of a suspicious death. They found the dead body of a taxi driver, Khun Jaran Hommanee (44), originally from Borthong, Samutprakarn province who had apparently choked to death on an orange.
The informant in the case, Khun Bu-ngah Kaawlumdoul, 50, friend and landlady of the deceased, maintained that she had called at the deceased’s house, where he lived alone, to collect her rent. She noticed his taxi outside, the lights on and the front door ajar, she called his name, but when she received no answer, she went inside to investigate.

On entering the room, she discovered Khun Jarun Hommanee on the floor in a convulsed state, with orange juice dripping from his mouth. She immediately called neighbours to render assistance, but to no avail, Jaran died. Later investigation revealed orange skins and seeds on the floor and in the waste bin, but no evidence of bodily injuries.

The police took the body away for forensic examination. The investigation into the case continues.
