Pattaya - Arrested Selling Niece’s (16) Sexual Services

Arrested Selling Niece’s (16) Sexual Services

The Children & Women Protection Centre Police Region 2 have arrested a woman selling her 16 year-old niece’s sexual services.

Pattaya, 23rd February 2011[PDN] at 10pm, Cpt. Kriengsak Bunprawat, Children & Women Protection Centre Police Region 2, together with an investigation team set a trap to arrest a human trafficking suspect, Miss Samien Yingrum (35) from Saekaew at Carrefour Department Store, Central Pattaya. Miss Yingrum was arrested after selling her niece, Miss Te (Alias)(16) for sexual services to a foreign undercover agent.

Cpt. Bunprawat revealed that it was known that Miss Yingrum was in the habit of contacting foreign men in order to sell her niece’s sexual services to them for 1,500-2,000 baht each time.

The foreign undercover agent contacted Miss Yingrum about using her teen niece for sexual services agreeing on a price of 1,500 baht.

They arranged to meet each other in front of Carrefour Department Store. Miss Yingrum turned up with Miss Te, sent her to accompany her client and received 1,500 baht in cash.

The suspect was arrested and was brought to the police station for further questioning accompanied by the victim.

Under interrogation, Miss Yingrum stated that she worked both as a beer bar woman and as a building labourer at the same time.

She explained that her niece Miss Te had lost her parents when she was a small baby. Now Miss Te lived in Saekaew with her grandparents and informally attended secondary school.

Miss Te had come to Pattaya to stay with Miss Yingrum for holidays. Miss Yingrum claimed that it was the first time she had pimped her niece and that Miss Te had volunteered to do this by herself as she needed money to go home. She agreed to share the wage to her aunt, paying 500 baht in commission.

However the police do not believe Miss Yingrum’s claims.

Meanwhile, Miss Te hesitantly explained the truth. She admitted that she was willing to have sex for money, led by her aunt and that they had already done so on 3-4 occasions.

Miss Yingrum was charged with human trafficking before being transferred to Pattaya Police Investigation for further procedures. The victim, Miss Te will be sent to the government’s children’s safe house for counselling following sexual abuse.

Police arrested a 35-year-old woman yesterday on charges of human trafficking after she allegedly brought her 16-year-old niece to Pattaya City to sell sex to foreign customers.

In a police sting operation, a foreigner informant contacted suspect Samien Yingram, who told him he could have sex with the girl for Bt1,500.

After the informant paid the money in front of Carrefour Mall Central Pattaya branch yesterday, police arrested the woman and girl and brought them to Pattaya City police station.

Samien told police she worked at a Pattaya beer bar at night and a construction site by day to support her family.

She said the girl's parents died long ago and she was studying lower secondary level via non-formal education. The girl usually lived with grandparents in Sa Kaew but had been staying with Samien for four days and was due to return home on Friday.

Samien said she didn't intend to sell her niece but the girl wanted money and was willing to go with foreigners.

She said the girl agreed to keep Bt1,000 and pay her Bt500. Samien said it was the first time they had done it.

In a separate interrogation room the girl told police she sold herself willingly and her aunt had brought her to sell sex three or four times before. Each time she paid Bt500 to her aunt.

Police charged Samien with human trafficking and sent the girl to a shelter for abused kids.
