Sawang Boriboon Foundation members rid Pattaya of Evil Spirits.

We joined Sawang Boriboon Foundation members on Saturday Night as they conducted an annual ritual around Pattaya City which utilized a special stick which is held by two men who are thought to be possessed. They lead followers around the City and stop at locations where there is thought to be evil spirits. A special ritual takes place to cleanse the area of the spirits and the group then move on to the next location guided by the two men and the stick. This ritual originates from China and is repeated by organizations around Thailand and the rest of Asia.
Early on Sunday Morning, 49 Monks attended a merit-making ceremony held on Pattaya Beach Road in front of the old pier near the entrance to Walking Street which was also organized by the Sawang Boriboon Foundation. Offerings were made to the monks in this ceremony which is known in Thai as “Tamboon”.

Ritual to Release Lost Spirits and Souls



On Tuesday evening (18th) at the beginning of Walking Street, a group of High Ranking Ceremonial Masters from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation conducted a ritual to enhance safety in Pattaya in a spiritual way.

The ceremony was conducted by walking along the roads and finding sharp curves, where many accidents have occurred in the past.

It is believed that the souls and spirits of those who pass away in accidents will linger at the place where they died.

Because they could not cross over into the next world or lifetime, they might be hungry, suffering from sorrow and anger, and most likely, those souls are the cause of other accidents, perhaps over and over again, as the suffering soul needs another soul as a replacement before the spirit can transmigrate to another world.

This ritual was done to stop the musical chairs of souls replacing each other, which always means another death.

The Ceremonial Masters conduct these religious rites to send the hungry and suffering souls food and fulfillment.

This is an important observance to conduct every year, before the Chinese New Year.

Chinese Prayers were chanted to bless the souls with happiness and peace.

Many tourists had an exceptional moment to witness these prayers, and learn more about Chinese Traditions.
