Illegal Loggers Arrested in Mae Hong Son

A team of officials in the northern province of Mae Hong Son has arrested an illegal logging gang and seized a large amount of timber.

Soldiers, police, and natural resources and environment officials have joined hands to crack down on an illegal logging plant in Pai district of Mae Hong Son province.

They said the plant is used to produce furniture and is owned by Sanit Posawat, a local municipality council member.


Sanit managed to flee before the arrests were made.

Police seized a lot of timber and processed wood at the plant as evidence to take a legal action against Sanit soon.

Officials also found at least 20 trees at a house owned by Bunsi Jaipaeng.

Authorities said they seized the wood and will continue to investigate.
