Jealous Cop Kills Soldier GirlfriendUPDATE : 2 November 2010

A police officer killed his girlfriend out of jealousy at a restaurant in the Tao Poon area of Bangkok.

The shooting took place at a restaurant on Pracharat Sai 1 Road.

According to investigators, Police Lieutenant Nopparit Wisetrit and his girlfriend Sergeant Major Kesara Jaisa ngad, also a single mother of one child, were having dinner with six other friends.

Seeing his girlfriend chatting intimately with one of their friends, Nopparit shot her to death with a 9 millimeter handgun out of jealousy and then fled.

What is it with Thai culture and their inability to control jealousy? Women are the same, the cheap ones anyway!

He'll be ok once he promises not to do it again. Anyway provocation goes a long way in Thai courts for the favoured few.

Never mind that he legged it, if he surrenders it'll be seen as remorse so no ploplem with bail if he promises to be more circumspect in future (ie no witnesses).

Police Accused of Shooting Army Sergeant Surrenders

    UPDATE : 5 November 2010

Police Captain Nopparit Wisetsak, who allegedly shot a female army sergeant in the head, has turned himself in to the authorities after having fled to a temple in Kanchanaburi province.

The Metropolitan Police held a press briefing last night to announce that Police Captain Nopparit Wisetsak, who is accused of shooting and killing Master Seargeant 1st Class Kessara Jaisa ngad at a Bangkok restaurant in a crime of passion on November 2, has surrendered to the authorities.

The investigation team also confiscated the 9 millimeter pistol used in the murder and apprehended Nopparit at his hideout at a Buddhist temple in Kanchanaburi province.

During the press briefing, the investigation team reported that Nopparit has admitted to shooting the female army sergeant, but he claims it was not intentional.

According to Nopparit, he went drinking with Kessara prior to the incident.

When the army sergeant refused to leave with him, he waved his gun to threaten her.

Unfortunately, the gun went off on accident, killing the army sergeant on the spot.

Afterward, Nopparit fled to the Buddhist temple to calm himself before contacting the authorities.

Nopparit said the crime was an accident, but admitted that he was drunk at the time.

The police captain added that he has been in an intimate relationship with Kessara for the past two years, and there was no disputes or arguments which would have led him to kill her.

Initially, Nopparit has been charged with murder and will be further interrogated.

His bail request was also denied, and his case will be processed by the court on November 6.

No bail. Unusual for a Policeman but then again he did kill an Army officer.

The Policeman that killed Leo del Pinto in Pai and the Policeman (Somchai Wisetsingh) that killed the English couple in Kanchanaburi both received bail even after fleeing the scene of the crime.

Don't badmouth Thailand or the Thai cops over this, incident because this type of crap happens everywhere. California has had incidents in which one male cop will kill another male cop because they were both f*cking or wanting the same female cop. Natures way of culling the excess from herd.

It's not possible to fire a 9mm pistol accidently, as a fair amount of pressure on the trigger is required in order to expel a round. Also the weapon is usually in safe mode with a magazine fitted , i.e. no round in the chamber. He would need to physically pull the slide back and release it in order to make the weapon ready for firing. If this is the best he can come up with after a couple of days of deep thinking then he has clearly been promoted beyond his ability.

Not the first Thai police officer to wave a loaded handgun about in a restaurant whilst in a drunken stupor and probably wont be the last

It was the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, I do not care to look for it, but it happened about 15 years ago.

It really amazes me why people who are so anxious to badmouth Thailand chose to live here or participate in a Thailand based forum?
