KOTA BHARU, Tuesday 5 October 2010 (Bernama) -- Istana Mahkota has lodged a police report over a short messaging service (SMS) on a purported plan to take former Kelantan Sultan Ismail Petra to Thailand.

The report was made by aide-de-camp Colonel Zahari Bakri at the Kubang Kerian police station at 10.50 a.m. today.

Speaking to reporters, Zahari said he received a text from an unknown individual at 9.21am on Sept 21, alleging a conspiracy to take Sultan Ismail Petra by road to Thailand.

He said the text urged the authorities to secure the border to thwart the attempt and claimed that the conspirators planned to shelter at a military camp.

The purported plan was also posted on the Kelantan Insider blog on Monday, he said, adding that the police should investigate the SMS text sender and blogger as it could disrupt peace and tarnish the image of the Kelantan royal house.

Sultan Ismail Petra, who has been ill for more than a year after suffering a stroke, is the father of the present Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, who ascended the throne on Sept 13.
