Innocent Civilian Shot in Random Youth Gang Confrontation
An innocent civilian has been shot in the leg while riding his motorbike in Central Pattaya on Wednesday morning. The incident is believed to be the result of a confrontation between problematic Pattaya youth gangs in the area.
Pattaya, the 8th of September 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 5:00am, Lieutenant Colonel Chatchai Srisuwan (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a shooting incident in front of Soi Sophon Cable, 3rd Road, Central Pattaya. A team of officers along with the Sawang Boriboon Foundation were dispatched to the incident.

Arriving at the scene, rescue personnel rendered immediate first aid to the victim, Mr. Kamthorn Thiyawet [47] a motorbike taxi driver from Chachoengsao.
Due to the extent of bleeding resultant from the bullet wound, Mr. Thiyawet was transported to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Officers contacted the relatives of Mr. Thiyawet in order to come and retrieve his red Honda Click motorbike, left at the scene.
Under interrogation, Mr. Thiyawet explained that he had been riding passed the Central Pattaya 4th intersection, heading towards South Pattaya, when two groups of fighting youths came speeding past him in the opposite direction.
Mr. Thiyawet stated that he had heard several loud bangs but was unaware what or where they had come from at the time.
Subsequently feeling pain and numbness in his left leg he stopped the bike to realise that he had been shot.
A nearby witness to the incident rendered assistance to Mr. Thiyawet, calling police and rescue services to the scene.
Police Colonel Nunthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) explained that Mr. Thiyawet had more than likely been the unfortunate victim of problematic youth gang troubles in the city.
He further urged anyone with information pertaining to the incident or the offenders to come forward and aid police in their investigations
