I think you will find that it is Interpol that is dealing with this case as it is of an international level. They will no doubt turn the case over to either the UK or Thai Police in due course.

^^^ a friend was involved with a known International criminal here, he was eventually contacted by Interpol through his mobile and asked to make a statement about their relationship (he was gay) and had to go to the British Embassy. He was also contacted by the press, who know how they got his mobile number in Bangkok

About human trafficers who get harsh sentences ( not the bastards who steal from people but the genuine ones who are good at what they do). You have to see it like this, you are a political activist and are being arrested and executed or jailed for life and you find a trafficer who helps you flee the country.............well for many people in trouble these guys are heros and not criminals. When i lived in turkey as a young boy there was a guy in istanbul who hadn't sent any person abroad for 2 years, he said that there are so many people doing it and the governments are so allert that he has taken a break. Nobody he trafficed was ever cought by the police in 20 years.
