THAKSIN'S BT76-BILLION-ASSET TRIAL
Ruling not ground for upheaval: Kaewsan
By The Nation
The rival camps should not try to incite a violent upheaval regardless of the outcome of the judicial review on the Bt76 billion in seized assets of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, a former graft buster said on Wednesday
Kaewsan Atibodi, former member of the Asset Examination Committee, said he opposed any attempts to politicise a judicial decision.
"Instead of voicing concern for the eruption of an upheaval, I want to remind everyone that politics and the judiciary should never be mixed," he said.
The Supreme Court has scheduled to hand down its verdict on the asset seizure case on February 26
The yellow shirts should not riot if the verdict is against the asset seizure and thered shirts too should not pour into the streets if the verdict is for confisticating Thaksin's wealth, Kaewsan said.
If parties concerned are not satisfied with the verdict, then he wanted to dareThaksin and the yellow-shirt leader Somdhi Limthongkul to fight in a duel instead of inciting the crowds, he said.
"Instead of voicing concern for the eruption of an upheaval, I want to remind everyone that politics and the judiciary should never be mixed," he said.
