Jumper - Pattaya People newspaper Thailand

Police were notified on the evening of the 19th September that a male tourist was threatening to jump off the balcony of a room in a building on Soi Korpai, South Pattaya. Police and Sawang Boriboon arrived at the J and BB Florida Place to see the man, apparently drunk and standing dangerously close to the edge of the balcony of a room on the second floor. All around people were calling to him to go back inside, but he ignored them. Later a young Thai woman arrived at the scene. She apparently was a friend of the man and eventually persuaded him to go back inside to safety. He seemed in a panic but eventually complied when officials climbed up and brought him down to safety. Afterwards, Police questioned British citizen, Mr. James Dunlop about the incident. Apparently, two years ago the 25 year old man was a soldier in the British Army serving in Iraq. He witnessed the death of a few friends in a bombing incident; he survived but developed post traumatic stress syndrome and quit the Army. He was visiting Pattaya on holiday. A report was made but the man was allowed to go with his friend to her resort home to calm down.
