Thai Rak Thai MP to ask party ministers over report of enlarged penis

A Thai Rak Thai Party MP plans to ask ministers of the party whether any of them have received a silicone injection to enlarge his penis.

Surachart Chamnarnsilp from Udon Thani said the issue had tarnished the party's reputation so he would ask Thai Rak Thai ministers during a party meeting today whether any of them had used such surgery service.

Surachart was commenting on a claim by a woman, Raweewan Satakrak, that a member of the current Cabinet had received a silicone injection on his penis from the same cosmetic clinic which treated her.

Raweewan last week called on the minister to come forward and testify in a defamation case in which the woman was named a defendant.

"If a Thai Rak Thai minister used such service, the party's image would be badly damaged. The one who did it should take responsibility and resign now," Surachart said.

"I will raise the issue during a party meeting tomorrow [Tuesday]. Although it's personal affair, a minister is a public a figure and should be a role model instead of behaving like this."

Thaksin's Cabinet members are mostly Thai Rak Thai members, except a few outsiders who are technocrats and businessmen.

Several male Cabinet members dared not look into Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's eyes after he asked a simple question: "Who did it?"

A source from Tuesday's Cabinet meeting said Thaksin was asking his ministers as to who had received a silicone injection to enlarge his penis.

"Who did it? Tell me. This affected reputation of the Cabinet as the news went around the world. I don't want the people to think that Cabinet members are obsessed with such kind of thing," the source quoted Thaksin as saying.

The source said several male Cabinet members looked down at the floor following the question.

A woman last week came out to disclose that she had learnt a member of the current Cabinet had received a silicone injection to enlarge his penis from the same clinic which performed an injection on her face, causing it to be disfigured. She called on the minister to come forward to become her defence witness after the clinic sued her for defamtion.

According to the source, after Thaksin was serious, he changed his tone to be lightly by asking Public Health Minister Suchai Charoenratanakul tong-in-cheek whether he could check and find the minister who had his penis enlarged.

"The public health minister, the next room is empty. Can you use it to check the ministers right now," the source quoted Thaksin as saying.

Deputy Public Health Minister Varathep Ratanakorn disrupted tongue-in-cheek that former public health minister, Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan volunteered to carry out the checking task.

Varathep's comment made Sudarat turn red.

Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, said no one would admit it.

"But it won't be hard to check. Just put up a scanner to scan ministers when they attend the next Cabinet meeting. If the scan showed something opaque, we could guess that's it," she said.

Deputy Public Health Minister Anutin Charnveerakul told reporters apparently tongue-in-cheek that all male Cabinet members sat with the legs crossed during the Cabinet meeting.

Labour Minister Somsak Thepsuthin laughed when asked to comment on the issue. "This issue is bigger than that of Thai labour in Taiwan," he replied, laughing.

Minister in penis row was foreign, says clinic

The doctor who runs a cosmetic clinic that reportedly provided penis-enlargement treatment to a Thai politician yesterday said the person in question was actually a cabinet minister from a foreign country.

Dr Kaweewat Hengsawas did not identify the person or provide any information about his nationality. “This person is very wealthy and still alive,” was all he said.

The doctor said he had remained silent over the matter until yesterday, after the name of his clinic became publicly known. His clinic has been linked to a widely distributed VCD, which shows a penis-enlargement procedure on a faceless man.

Dr Kaweewat said it was his own voice describing the process, which was recorded for educational purposes and observed by a team of 40 doctors who visited his clinic in Don Muang district. He said the length of the VCD was three hours - not 10 minutes as quoted in the media.

The man in the VCD undergoing the procedure was a volunteer and not the “foreign politician’’ in question, he said. The doctor also denied he once performed the procedure on a police colonel, as reported in the press.

He said he had provided the penis-enlargement service, which involves a liquid injection, to 90 clients and that only one or two of them required surgical treatment.

Janista calls for Medical Council probe of unapproved procedure

Chat Thai spokeswoman Janista Liewchalermwong yesterday urged the Medical Council to order a probe into a doctor whose clinic reportedly gave penis-enlargement treatment to a minister.

Janista, an MP and member of the House consumer protection panel, said public attention had focused on the politician patient but his doctor’s use of a procedure not permitted here was more dubious.

Biotechnique surgery, which involves a liquid injection, has not yet been approved for human use and the doctor’s action may fall within the scope of public deceit. “I appeal to the council to evaluate the doctor’s professional standards for appropriateness, and the media should help delve into this case too,” she said.
