One number will be added to the mobile fone numbers in september i was told.

This news came in as i just wanted to order a new bunch of business cards, it's on hold or i will have to know exactly what they intend to do...

I heard that the 01 xxx xx xx will be 081 xxx xx xx and similar for others like 09 xxx xx xx will be 089 xxx xx xx

04 xxx xx xx = 084 xxx xx xx etecetera....

I think it's only mobile phones that get the extra "8". Post Database section has had a few articles on it.

You use your fingers to dial, so it's only fitting that your mobile phone is growing a digit right back; September 1 will be the historic day that every Thai yuppiephone number expands by one numeral; people will have to dial "08" instead of merely "0" to begin their call; to complete the greatest practical joke by Thai civil servants since the Sukhothai era, fixed line phone numbers will stay the same, to thoroughly confuse overseas callers - who don't dial the "0", but will sometimes (but not always) have to dial the leading "8" to reach Thailand; leave a few hours at midnight on August 31 to re-enter some but not all of the numbers in your phone book and speed dial directories.

Sounds like the british system

Remember when london got split into inner and outer london? Then they decided for the rest of the country it wasnt enough so decided to create numbers that would last for 100 years and insert a digit into all numbers and oh by the way london would now be 0207 and 0208 and now just 6 years later they are wanting to change the numbers again to fit in with europe!!

Why cant europe ever fit in with the UK? Why do we always have to change what we do while the frogs, huns and eyeties get away with it??
