Police are hunting for six men who allegedly killed a security guard and stole a large quantity of impounded e-cigarettes from the Customs Department’s warehouse at Khlong Toei port early Monday morning.
One suspect was taken into police custody, allegedly for being in possession of some of the stolen items, including e-cigarettes. He claims that he did not known they were stolen.
The daring robbery, reported to be the first at the Customs Department’s warehouse, took place at about 1am, according to the CCTV footage from the scene.
The robbers used bolt cutters to remove the locks from five cargo containers and loaded a large quantity of vapes and other items into their van before escaping.
A security guard, identified only as “Boonnark”, discovered the heist in progress and tried to give chase on his motorcycle. The driver of the suspects’ van reversed and crashed into Boonnark’s motorcycle, killing him at the scene, before speeding away.
