The snake farm at the Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute in Bangkok announced today that it will no longer accept donations of pythons or boa constrictors, due to inadequate space.

On the farm’s Facebook page, it stated that it was sorry for the inconvenience, but it does not have the capacity to take care of them.

In response to a question from a netizen, however, it said that it will still accept donations of other types of snake.

According to the institute’s website, it is located in a five-storey facility, called the Simaseng (Four Snakes) building.

The first and second floors serve as exhibition areas for 35 species of living snakes, a venom extraction demonstration area, a museum and an exhibition following snake evolution, anatomy, life cycle, reproduction, toxicology and first aid treatments for snake bites.

Demonstrations of venom extraction and snake handling for the public are held weekdays, at 11am and 2pm.

On weekends and public holidays, shows featuring snake handling and photo opportunities with tame snakes are held at 11am.
