Thailand ranks 107th in 2024 global education survey

Thailand was ranked 107th in global education ranking for 2024, according to the World Population Review website.
The survey, which covers over 200 nations, draws from both the annual UN News Best Countries report and the nonprofit organisation World Top 20.

While education levels vary across countries, the website points out a clear correlation between the quality of a nation's educational system and its economic status and overall well-being.

Generally, developing nations tend to provide higher-quality education than the least developed nations, while fully developed countries offer the best education.

Citing the Global Partnership for Education, the website emphasises that education is a fundamental human right and plays a key role in human, social and economic development.

Education promotes gender equality, fosters peace, and increases a person’s chances of having more and better life and career opportunities, it said.

Globally, South Korea ranks first, followed by Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovenia, Japan, Germany, Finland, Norway and Ireland.

Thailand holds the 107th spot worldwide and is ranked 8th in ASEAN. Singapore leads ASEAN countries with the highest education ranking, followed by Brunei and Vietnam.

Here’s the full ranking of ASEAN nations:

    Singapore (11th globally)
    Brunei (47th)
    Vietnam (53rd)
    Indonesia (67th)
    Philippines (71st)
    Malaysia (89th)
    Laos (102nd)
    Thailand (107th)
    Myanmar (109th)
    Cambodia (120th)

Laos is better than Thailand? And Thailand is only just ahead of Myanmar? Seems a bit iffy. I checked and Thailand's 107th isn't unexpected if looking at its ranking on GDP per capita (97th in a Wiki list).

Have you ever been/worked in a Thai school?

The results are absolutely not suprising.

Are the results based on Thai schools or international schools? With farang ajarns? In Lao it was 100% necessary to pony up for international school if you're kids were to stand a chance of not joining the chicken headery norm. This is expensive. but Lao folk with a few smarts realised it was an investment into there future. So did I but it sure wasn't cheap they did however do a good job on them. The standard of educators was high. Here in Oz it's also high and basicly free. They are thriving
Oldest boy is in his last year of high school and is doing great. Wants to go to uni. That won't be free but I've got his back.

Indeed. The wife's bro is a teacher of physics at a Lao school he's not paid well by any stretch of the imagination but his Daughter( my Lao neice) seems to have inherited his brains, she has won 3 inter asian physics competitions the first win got her a trip to Japan where she won again next year she beat a Singaporean and competed in Korea. Also winning. Then the school said to her to step down and give other kids a go. Which she did gracefully. She also won a full scholarship to the lycie France ( the French school) speaks fluent French, English and was again awarded a scholarship of 2 years to go study in France which turned into 4 years due to covid. She's an amazing young woman. The scholarship to France came with conditions though.as it was awarded by a Hydro dam company she had to promise to work for them for 2 years upon her return to Laos which she did
