Two Japanese nationals were arrested by Thai police today, at their apartment in the Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri province, for allegedly detaining and extorting money from another Japanese national.
Warrants for the arrests of the two men, Niki Fugu and Tomi Asaki, were issued by the Criminal Court on October 17th, after another Japanese man filed a complaint with the Metropolitan Police, claiming that he had been illegally detained and assaulted by two compatriots, who also demanded money from him.
A police officer claimed that one of the suspects admitted that had previously been arrested in Japan on drug trafficking charges, before escaping to Thailand with about one billion yen, intending to open a cannabis parlour and to engage in “an export business.”
