Objects Seen Thrown from Abandoned Waterfront Condo in Pattaya

A Facebook video showed a long object being thrown from the infamous abandoned Waterfront condo building in Pattaya, prompting a visit from reporters who discovered workers cleaning up the site due to theft and safety concerns.

The video first went public on September 30th, when a Facebook user said she saw someone throwing a long, white object from around the 20th floor of the abandoned condo. The post included the message, “What are they doing? I happened to see this and got curious.”

Later in the evening, The Pattaya News reporters visited the building in the viral clip. The building in question is a 53-story luxury condominium and hotel project widely known as the “Waterfront,” located near Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya. This project was halted in late 2008 after several law suits even involving the former mayor of Pattaya in late 2023.

When reporters arrived, they found a group of workers cleaning and moving objects out of the building, mostly iron and aluminum bars. When asked, the workers simply stated that their boss had instructed them to clean and remove certain items from the building, as many items had already been stolen.

Mr. Pandawat Pimskul, a 72-year-old lawyer, informed The Pattaya News reporters that the building is currently in the process of being sold at auction, but after 10 years, it still hasn’t been sold. Meanwhile, various demolition orders have been ordered by courts and dozens of lawsuits have held up any movement on what many locals call a major eyesore.

Over the years, thieves have broken in and stolen almost everything of value, and homeless individuals have occupied the building, causing damage and littering in the area said Pandawat. As a lawyer representing Bali Hai Co., Ltd., he decided to bring workers to clean the building and remove everything from inside, which led to the incident shown in the video.

Mr. Pandawat assured that they will complete the cleanup as soon as possible. He also expressed concern that if the building isn’t cleaned soon, the upcoming rainy season or storms could cause parts of the structure to fall and pose a danger to nearby residents.

Truth as ever is a casualty in this ridiculous little country.

The building in question was a perfectly legal project which should never have had passed its EIA which was approved by the then Pattaya administration who were prepared to spoil a view that had persisted since time immemorial from Pratumnak Hill. A higher authority intervened near the completion of the building preventing occupation in 2014 and the site has remained derelict ever since. The project leaders have refused to pay for its demolition.

The project was led by an Israeli company which accepts no responsibility.

    No surprise there.

every fucking highrise condo built anywhere has spoilt a view for someone and given someone else a better view.

and why on earth should a "perfectly legal project" be demolished at the expense of the owner?

    You gormless old fuckwit.

The building obscured the view of the entire Pattaya bay for everyone from a famous local vantage point and temple that was renown and depicted in postcards etc for over nigh on a hundred years, you dozy nitwitted nincompoop.

The view enjoyed the same privilege that exists today in preserving the London city scape in the view from Parliament fields up in Hampstead.

You really are quite a dunderhead in your own way Tax, and for a professional man, quite boorish.

Up your game please, not all of us were ditch diggers.

Also, you dribbling prat, the project was quite legal in its inception and funding, and was built in accordance with its plans and statutory regulations except for one rather fundamental drawback, its environmental impact was so critical it should never have seen the light of day and only did so because of the probability of corruption.

    Understand now, you silly kike.

spoken like a true brit nimby.

doesnt your condo obscure someones precious view? every building built anywhere changes the view for someone standing behind it. taken to its logical extreme we should all still be living in mud huts no taller than a pygmies arsehole. not building that condo will deprive owners of their sea view. who is to judge whose view is more important, the condo owner or the man on the hill.

your blatant antisemitism is quite shameful, but i suppose it is the natural result of your years as a civil servant in westminster, although i suspect the seeds were sown during your drug dealing days after that pretty jewish girl you tried to bed humiliated you when, even under the influence of the rohypnol you spiked her drink with, laughed uncontrollably at the sight of the warty wattle flapping around on the end of the pungent micro penis you showed her and she promptly scarpered leaving you angry and unsatisfied.

Good Lord, you still don’t get it, do you.

I suspect you are merely trolling.

No one could be that stupid.

The view from Pratumnak Hill is protected I believe and gives the observer an unrestricted unique panoramic vista of the entire Pattaya Bay and has offered this amenity for centuries.

Similarly in London there are several sight lines protected within planning law two of which are from Parliament Hill to St. Paul’s and Palace of Westminster which forbid the erection of any building that might block the view.

That’s the trouble with you schnauzers, your interests tend to be limited by your preoccupation with money and its acquisition.

The level of idiocy among the usual suspects seems to be increasing.

It's really becoming a futile pastime posting on this board.

Scarcely surprising fewer and fewer are doing so and the inevitable beckons.

this isnt hampstead you fucking simpleton, nor is it westminster or budleigh fucking salterton or any other of the chocolate box hamlets in the uk where nothing has changed for centuries, and where building or altering anything, even replacing a window or a front door or installing a front gate needs the permission of the "not in my backyard" pen pushing local government civil servants of the town planning committees that have prevented any kind of building and infrastructure progress across the uk for generations. takes years and costs a fortune to get permission for anything, and thats before we get into the "environmental" side of things where the discovery of a newt in a field or a bat in a loft can hold up construction for years or even prevent it entirely.

ever wonder why there is a housing shortage and impossibly high property prices in the uk. the reason is the mindset of stuck in the mud goons like you. oooh the history, oooh the view, this is where henry the eighth tied his shoelace on the way to his wife beheading, better not build that hospital here, road tunnel near stonehenge to shorten the journey time to the south west, oooh no, might disturb some 3000 year old artifact that might possible be buried there. its fucking insanity.

protected view? fuck off. build housing. if you want a pretty view go for a walk in the countryside. cities are for living and working. visionary architects are quite capable of prettifying the cities.

years ago i owned a small commercial building on a high street. it was in a conservation area.

the town council wanted to rent it for an office and drop in centre for the disabled.

there were 3 stone steps up to the entrance and obviously it was inaccessible for wheelchair users or those with mobility issues.

i applied to the same town council for permission to add a side ramp that would enable wheelchairs to enter the door. the ramp would not encroach onto the pavement any more than the steps did.

after 3 months the same council that wanted the disabled centre denied me permission to add the ramp. it is a conservation area they said and a ramp would appear out of place. how fucked up is that.

and the council did not get their office for the disabled.

Only partly...the pasty white bodies are largely hidden by the huge overgrowth of stout black hair everywhere but on the very top.
