A woman’s body was discovered floating in a canal in Pattaya. Authorities are working to identify her and determine the cause of death.
At 10:06 PM on September 21st, Pattaya police received a report of a body found in a pond inside Soi Chaiyapruek 1 in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Upon receiving the report, they quickly coordinated with rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation before rushing to the scene.
There, authorities discovered a water canal fenced off with barbed wire. Near the edge of the water, a pair of sandals was found. In the water, which was about 1 meter deep, the body of an unidentified woman, approximately 165 cm tall, was found wearing a black t-shirt and long pants.
According to police, the deceased had been dead for at least 10 hours. No signs of physical assault were found on her. Rescue workers retrieved the body from the water and cordoned off the area to keep bystanders away.
Mr. Tawee Wongla, 45, who discovered the body, told police that while setting up a fish trap, he initially noticed the sandals but didn’t think much of it. As he dipped his leg into the water, he noticed what looked like a human head and hair. Upon closer inspection, he saw the full body and realized it was a corpse, prompting him to immediately alert the authorities.
Police are reviewing missing persons reports in an effort to identify the deceased. The body was transferred to the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Institute for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
