Hong Kong Diver Dies While Diving in Sattahip Bay

A Hong Kong diver tragically died after collapsing from chest pain during a dive in the Samae San Bay in Chonburi’s Sattahip district on Saturday, August 11th, 2024.


At 2:30 PM yesterday, the Sattahip Rescue Foundation received an emergency call reporting an unconscious diver who had collapsed while diving in Samae San Bay. The rescue team quickly went to the scene with emergency medical teams.


According to reports, the diver, an unidentified Hong Kong national, was brought to shore by a naval vessel before the medical teams’ arrival. The medics found no pulse on the victim and immediately began resuscitation efforts before transferring him to the emergency room at Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital.

Witnesses reported that the diver had complained of chest pain before entering the water and was later found unconscious. Unfortunately, at 4:10 PM on that day, the hospital reported that the diver had sadly passed away.


Police are coordinating with the victim’s embassy to notify his family.
