A monk in Pattaya was arrested by local police for allegedly selling illegal drugs. His arrest also led to the apprehension of his supplier.

The arrest took place on July 27th, 2024, under the direction of Pol. Col. Nawin Sinthurat, Chief of the Banglamung Police Station. Police officers, equipped with an arrest warrant from the Pattaya Provincial Court, arrested Mr. Prajob (family name withheld by police), 47, at a rental room in the Bueng sub-district, Sri Racha district, Chonburi province, for the charge of “conspiracy by two or more people to commit serious drug-related offenses.”

The arrest of Mr. Prajob was a result of prior investigations directed by Pol. Col. Nawin, which resulted in the arrest of an unidentified monk in Banglamung who was found to be a drug dealer. The monk was apprehended with an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine at a local temple in Banglamung.

During the monk’s interrogation, he reportedly confessed to buying the drugs from Mr. Prajob. Subsequently, the monk was defrocked, and an arrest warrant was issued for Mr. Prajob, who was then apprehended.

The two suspects are currently in police custody.
