Pattaya Police Chief Proposes Closure of Motorcycle Taxi Stand on Second Road

A video circulating on Thai social media shows a group of motorcycle taxi drivers assaulting a tourist in front of a major shopping mall on Pattaya Second Road. The incident occurred on Saturday night, June 22nd.

The video, which is about 40 seconds long, has sparked outrage among netizens, who have called for the closure of the motorcycle taxi stand.

According to local media reports, the tourist was reportedly trying to park his motorcycle in front of a mall on Second Road when the motorbike taxi drivers approached him and told him not to park there. The tourist allegedly gave the drivers the middle finger, which angered them and led to the assault.

In response to the public outcry, Pattaya Police Chief Pol. Col. Nawin Thirawit revealed that the tourist involved in the incident is a Russian national. He had already been interviewed by investigators and sent for a medical examination at a hospital. The identities of the drivers in the video had also been identified, Pol. Col. Nawin said.

The police chief condemned the assault and said that police are awaiting a medical report to file charges against the drivers. He also said that he discussed the incident with Pattaya Deputy Mayor Mr. Weekit Manarojkit and came to a conclusion that they will propose to relevant city transportation authorities to close down the motorcycle taxi stand.

The police chief said this is the third time since the end of last year that there has been an incident of violence involving this specific motorcycle taxi stand in Pattaya.

The drivers at this particular stand did not release any immediate statement to the press and their names were withheld at this time by Pattaya Police.

The arrogance of these chimps is astounding.

They didn't ask permission to take over all parking outside this mall, so why waste time kicking the louts out?
