The Finance Ministry plans to launch a new digital lottery, aimed at encouraging people to start saving for their retirement.

According to Deputy Finance Minister Paopoom Rojanasakul, the digital lottery tickets will be priced at 50 baht each and will be sold to members of the National Savings Fund and freelancers, in accordance with Section 40 of the Social Security Act, such as farmers, traders and independent employees.

Each can buy a maximum of 60 tickets, worth 3,000 baht, per month. The lottery will be drawn every Friday at 5pm.

The five first prizes are worth one million baht each. The 10,000 second prizes are each worth 1,000 baht.

The money used to buy the lottery tickets will be kept in the savings accounts of the buyers, whether they win a prize or not. It can be withdrawn when the buyers reach 60 years old.

The new lottery tickets are expected to be available next year.
