Thread: Man in Violent Rage Detained by Police After Attacking His Own Parents in Na Jomtien

A 36-year-old Thai man was apprehended by police in Na Jomtien, Sattahip, on May 19th after he reportedly attacked his own parents.


Police officers from the Na Jomtien Police Station responded to a call regarding a domestic violence incident at the Eua Arthorn Na Jomtien housing community. Upon arrival, they found the suspect, identified only as Mr. Nattawut, in a state of rage. He was reportedly verbally abusing and threatening his mother with a small cutting utensil on the street.


After seeing the police, Mr. Nattawut fled to his apartment balcony. Local journalists and residents attempted to convince him to surrender to police. Mr. Nattawut initially appeared to surrender by tossing his weapon to the ground. However, upon seeing his mother again, he became enraged once more.

Fearing for the suspect’s safety and that of others, Na Jomtien police eventually advanced on the suspect. In a brief chase that followed, Mr. Nattawut attempted to escape by jumping from his balcony but was quickly arrested by police and local residents.


The victim’s stepfather, 65-year-old Mr. Narit (name withheld to protect his privacy), told local media that his stepson often had violent outbursts when he became intoxicated. Mr. Nattawut even threw a chair at his own mother and hit Mr. Narit when he tried to defend his wife, the stepfather narrated.


Due to the severity of the incident, Mr. Narit decided to press charges against his stepson. The suspect was then taken into custody at the Na Jomtien Police Station to proceed with legal actions and to be tested for illegal drugs.

It’s unclear what set the suspect off to begin the incident, although as noted, the suspect appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
