'Supremely popular' Brit found dead in Thailand hotel room as family launch bid

A "supremely popular" Brit has been found dead in his hotel room in Thailand.

Simon Brown, known affectionately as Browny, was discovered lifeless at the accommodation on Saturday and an investigation into his death continues. Friends and family are in "total shock and sadness" at the tragedy, and the 47-year-old man's loved ones are fundraising to get his body home.

The machine operator, who lived in Trallwn, part of Pontypridd, south Wales, liked to travel and particularly enjoyed holidays to Thailand, close friend Mark Davies said. Mr Davies added: "It’s just a total shock, it was so unexpected. He wasn’t ill. There was nothing wrong with him. Everyone knew him. He was a crazy bloke - really outgoing and always up for a laugh."

Mr Brown's family says the process to get the man's body back to the UK is lengthy and expensive. They hope to raise £10,000 with their appeal, Wales Online reports. Circumstances around Mr Brown's death are unclear, though, as yet.

"He was a really hard worker as a machine operator and when he wasn’t working he was always on holiday. In particular he loved going to Thailand. We don’t know anything at the moment as to the circumstances around it. It only happened on Saturday so we know very little," Mr Davies continued.

The fundraiser, which so far has raised more than £2,000, reads: "We are asking all those who knew and loved Browny to help us bring him back home. As a family, we are now trying to bring Simon back home so that we can lay him to rest at his home at Swansea. Thanks to all those who have reached out and sent messages of condolence, and we appreciate any help you can give."

Mr Brown visited Thailand several times every year, his family said. It is unclear whereabouts in the Asian country Mr Brown had visited last week, and details around his death remain scare so far.

Approximately 50 donations to the fundraiser have been made so far, including individual large sums. The GoFundMe page, which can be accessed via this link, shows one man gave £500 to the appeal, which was only created on Wednesday.

Seems to have had a very strong case of Thai fever. I think Thailand is a risky place for crazy blokes.

The article doesn’t say what city this happened.

It doesn’t make much sense to bring a dead body home. It’s so expensive and what good does it do?

Agreed, but many loved ones prefer a burial with the body. Provides closure.

In this case it might also provide for a reliable autopsy.

Makes for a good piss up when they're 'supremely popular'

I'd imagine if it were someone like Cyrille, the total crowd funding goal would be a fair bit lower to toss the kunt in Pattaya Bay.

The elephant in the room, MSM & the vaxxed are managing to ignore that since the "death shot" was forced on the gullible, random unexplained deaths have risen massively.

AQI here is 60. About 10 more than Solihull, and nowhere near as depressing.

The fundraiser, which so far has raised more than £2,000,
these .."everyone knew him, he was a crazy bloke - really outgoing and always up for a laugh.".. type of characters are always "supremely popular" with their mates, until that is, they are called upon to put their hands in their pockets for the inevitable whip round to pay to bring his corpse home after they find out the silly welsh fucker travelled with no insurance.

should burn old browny up in a local temple for B1000 and bring his ashes back in an urn.

    Indeed.

It was the temples that called him there in the first place, no doubt.

perhaps the nickname "browny" might hold some clues.

What in the hell is "Supremely Popular" anyway. I can understand extremely popular but as Tax said he was probably only popular with a few of his buddy's

^ Agreed and they can use the spare change from that crowd fund for a few drinks to toast their "Supremely Popular " friend.

That's way too young-perhaps he just over did it and his heart gave out?
I've outlived a few friends, it certainly does make you think of your own mortality in a rather ghoulish way for weeks after.

Pitiful really. A superannuated adolescent who evidently never grew up and spent his mature life in the pursuit of ephemera whilst toiling on the factory floor and living in some ghastly South Welsh bothy ( the horror, the horror ), dies prematurely in some sleazy fuck hotel during one of his many regular jaunts to Asia's whore central.

And his epitaph? “ He wuz a good bloke, supremely popular. A crazy guy “

God, isn’t the lower end depressing.

^ Have you ever wondered how your epitaph will read?

I'd imagine it would go something like.. A pompous miserable old ex-penpushing Thai whore infested shithole dwelling, sausage jockey Mick who never did get his ducks in a row. Har Har Har Har Har

That sounds like Cyrille. If the holiday was at a Pontins, the bar only sold Welsh lager and it pissed it down with rain all year

Tell me a Monday better than that.
