Thread: Pattaya Police Apprehend New Zealand Man After Nearly Six Years of Overstay

On May 11th, 2024, Thai national media reported that the Pattaya City police captured a 60-year-old New Zealand national who allegedly overstayed for almost six years in Pattaya, Chonburi.


According to Thai national media, Pattaya City investigative police were issued an order under the operation “X-Ray” program by the Thai government to inspect locals and crack down on illegal foreigners without valid visas, committing crimes, and taking over Thai locals’ businesses.


As a result, the Pattaya City police inspected their designated areas regularly and found a male foreigner at a 7-11 store in Soi 8, Jomtien Beach Road, Pattaya, according to intelligence sources. The police asked for visa documentation from the foreigner before escorting him to the Pattaya City immigration office as he was found to have had no legal documentation.

The man, publicly identified only as Mr. Grant, a 60-year-old New Zealand national, was facing charges of overstay in Thailand for more than 2,173 days. Grant reportedly told the police that he spent his time mostly at home, not hanging out with anyone, and had no friends in order to avoid the police arrest.




However, Grant would go shopping at night to meet his minimum needs before being arrested at the 7-11 store, according to the police report.

Initially, the officers prosecuted legal action against Grant and escorted him to Pattaya City police station for further legal and deportation processing.

I laugh every morning. I get up around 5am and go for a jog/walk around the area and outside virtually every hotel there is some young hooker waiting for a motosai taxi to pick them up. Their "John" kicked them out and they will head back home to shower, rest up and get ready for another night.

Thankfully it has been raining so temp is cool and the Pattaya stench is less.

Of course Pattaya City stinks, it’s Thai and riddled with corruption and incompetence.

What I find truly nauseating are idiot farang who actually think their own corner of this ghastly place is somehow superior, as if it were not at best a fougazy diamond set amid a recently deposited dog turd.

That they choose to make an easy arrest of one harmless chap without a visa and parade him like a circus freak in front of the media as if to illustrate the effectiveness of their racist "Operation x ray" pogrom to the people they rule over is nothing short of a disgrace.

I lived in Soi 10 Sukhumvit Bkk which is a fairly brisk 20 minute walk to your katoey HQ in Nana Plaza Cyril aka Tefler Tranny Rice Queen, Chiang Mai 2008, 2012.
And my current location is a good 40 minute walk to your favourite tranny poofter bar in Soi 6.
