Australian Tourist Allegedly Loses 200,000 Baht to Pickpocket on Pattaya Tour Bus

An Australian tourist expressed frustration after losing all his belongings and a large sum of money allegedly to a pickpocket on a tour bus while traveling to Pattaya to celebrate Loy Krathong.

On November 27th, around 4:30 PM, Mr. Jeevarass Palasunoram, an Australian tourist in his 30s, reported the incident to Pol. Lt. Col. Natchaphon Saengsi, Deputy Superintendent for investigation at Pattaya Police Station.

According to Mr. Jeevarass, he had taken an air-conditioned tour bus from Ekamai in Bangkok to Pattaya. Upon arriving in Pattaya around 4:30 PM, he discovered that his wallet, containing 9,500 Australian dollars (around 200,000 Thai baht), 1,500 Thai baht, and various documents, was missing from his backpack, which he had placed in the overhead compartment above his seat.

Mr. Jeevarass immediately reported the incident to the police upon reaching his hotel in Pattaya. The police attempted to inspect the bus for any clues but were informed by the unnamed bus driver that the vehicle did not have any security cameras.

Without clear leads or evidence, Pol. Lt. Col. Natchaphon told local media that he was unable to determine where Mr. Jeevarass might have dropped his belongings or whether the theft occurred on the bus. The investigation into the incident remains inconclusive at the time of reporting.

Who the fuck with that amount of cash would travel on a skanky Ekkamai-Pattaya bus? For the fucking adventure?

And who the fuck would put it in a backpack and stow it out of sight?

But if he was a backpacker then his pack would not have fitted in any overhead rack but would have been bunged into the luggage hold with all the other cases. So they’re talking about a glorified shoulder bag stashed overhead. Who in their right mind would do that when it’s holding 10,000$ AUD rather than keep it between your feet.

Story is fishier than an anchovy’s twat.

personally i believe Mr. Jeevarass Palasunoram 100 %

his name alone reflects his Australianness.

his name is a very common name in Australia, closely followed by the names Smith And Jones.

And let's face it, Palasunoram is no less 'Australian' than Smith or Jones.

    Obviously this bloke, you cretin.

And the old "accomplice in the baggage hold" trick goes back years.

Even a miserable, isolated curmudgeon like yourself should know that one.

even the lowly chickenhead is aware of the fact that foreigners who in their ignorance have chosen pattaya as their destination are likely to be either drunk, very gormless or heedless with their belongings and therefore ripe for the picking.

but on looking at the photo of mr. jeevarass, one cant help but notice that his skin is of an extremely dark hue, a hue typical of one possibly from nigeria, and therefore one must come to the conclusion that this is an insurance scam.

’Arry, your entire knowledge of Thailand is derived from believing what you read on the inter web and from apocrypha, you clot.

    You gullible arsehole.

Tax, the picture I see published is taken at night and he kinda merges into the darkness and it’s difficult to make out any facial features. But from his name and his passport ( assuming it isn’t forged ) I think he may well be originally a Tamil from Sri Lanka who could’ve sought asylum in Oz years back with his family.

The thing is, no insurance policy likely to have been taken out by this joker would indemnify him for a loss of cash to that degree, certainly not into five figures. So, unless he is a cretin and didn’t know that, I doubt it is an insurance scam.

Odd case but deffo a tale there. I think he must be scamming a punter on a deal and has bunged the cash somewhere for his own use.

    Only thing that makes sense.

Or he is indeed a fucking idiot but holding £5000 suggests otherwise.

In meantime, should folk travel by bus and store luggage in the bus’s hold, watch out for them pesky pygmy tea leaves hiding Gollum - like in the corner who in the course of the next three hours, the time it takes to travel to your Pattaya destination, will squeeze through all the stacked cases, perambulators, bags of fuck knows what in the sweaty dark to your case and using his multipurpose universal opening device will hack through your Samsonite bag that he knew by serendipity held 200,000 baht.

They're fuckers, ‘Arry knows. ‘Appens all the time, innit.

You fucking idiot ‘Arry. You probably read it in a Lonely Planet forum post 25 years ago when you were pulling your plonker back in the desert. You twat.

    Innit.

You really are a retarded little fuckwit aren't you.

Not only is this a scam everyone with more than your partially functional, solitary brain cell has heard about, but it goes with the "fellow passengers offering you some food and drinks" scams that happen from time to time, where you wake up at your destination, the driver tells you your new friends have already got off, and you find your money gone.

There's even been cases of people trying to nick money while on a plane, but obviously having the same sort of shallow-end-of-the-gene-pool intellect as yourself, they don't get very far.
The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

I've been on hundreds of buses in Thailand.

It has never happened to me or anyone on the bus.

It has never happened to anyone I know.

It has never happened to anyone I've ever met.

There has been a few cases, in Thailand, of people hiding in the baggage compartment of busses who rifled through passengers bags and got caught.

    Didn't say there haven't been.

However, not me, not anyone I know nor anyone I've ever met have been a victim.

Given the number of buses travelling around Thailand each day, it is exceptionally unlikely to happen to the point that it is almost an urban myth..
