Sattahip Fruit Vendor Shot Dead Over 400 Baht Debt, Suspects Swiftly Arrested

A fruit vendor was shot dead allegedly by a money lender in the Sattahip district over a 400 baht interest payment. The gunman and his female partner were quickly arrested the next day after the shooting.

The tragic incident unfolded in the Phlu Ta Luang area of Chonburi province near a busy convenience store on the evening of November 14th. Ittipon Pintong, the murdered fruit vendor, was selling fruits beside the road when a gunman and a woman drove by on a green motorbike and sprayed gunshots at him. 45-year-old Ittipon died later at a local hospital.

The 41-year-old wife of the victim, known only as Sangduen, informed the Phlu Ta Luang police that Ittipon had borrowed 10,000 baht from a loan shark with a daily interest rate of 200 baht. Unfortunately, he was unable to meet the interest payment for two consecutive days. On Tuesday night, the assailants engaged in a brief conversation with Ittipon before carrying out the shooting.

On the next day, November 15th, Phlu Ta Luang police were quickly able to capture the two suspects, identified as Mr. Sommai, 29, and Ms. Ratchadaphon, 29, (surnames withheld). They were charged with premeditated murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and carrying a gun into public without permission.

After the shooting, it was reported that the two suspects left Sattahip for Prachuap Khiri Khan to avoid police. They were, however, arrested within only 24 hours after committing the shooting, Phlu Ta Luang police said.

The two suspects are undergoing an interrogation as of press time and have not released a statement to the press nor is it known if they have an attorney as of press time or what their potential plea to the charges is.

So the killers aren't necessarily the loan shark ... who also should be shot.

Just the lower end, i.e. the majority, feeding off each other as the true rats run this ghastly snake pit for their own benefit.
