List of ‘influential figures’ complete, next target to be village and sub-district

Village and sub-district heads (Kamnan) who are influential figures in their localities will be dealt with in line with the government’s policy to crack down on dark influences in Thailand, according to Deputy Interior Minister Chada Thaised.

Chada, who was formerly highly influential in his home province of Uthai Thani, said today (Sunday) that officials have completed a list of as many as 700 people who meet the criteria of being “influential figures”, an expression from which a negative inference is often drawn in Thailand .

He said that these “influential figures” are divided into a Red group, numbering about 100, with the rest in the Yellow group, meaning that they are on a watch list, based on their records of alleged unlawful activities, adding that the list will have to be verified by the police before it can be disclosed.

The deputy interior minister maintains that the list was prepared without bias and will be screened by a committee, which is scheduled to meet on Tuesday.

The next step, he said, is for him to meet with village and sub-district heads, especially those who are known to be “influential figures”, to ask them to turn over a new leaf or face the full might of the law.

He hinted that one way of dealing with local leaders who refuse to change could be to initiate a full tax audit on their business and personal financial positions, to ensure that any unpaid tax is paid.

Chada insisted, however, that not all influential local leaders are bad people.

After dealing with the village and sub-district heads, the deputy interior minister said the next targets will be state officials who have close connections with influential figures allegedly involved in illegal activities.

Despite binning the hotel's bedside pencil and post it notes I saw by the impression on the next page 5/10 playmates scoring I didn't make the cut.

I am resigned to turning my clarinet into a Bong to become more attuned to this crazy society lest I be sent to Devil's Islands aka Aotearoa

Government Cracks Down on Powerful Figures, Strengthens Public Safety

The administration revealed key initiatives laid down by Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Srettha Thavisin.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Karom Phonphonklang stated that the government emphasizes lawful and just action against powerful figures, safeguarding civil liberties, and protecting the public from such figures who use their power in an unlawful way.

These actions are aimed at maintaining social, economic, and political stability. The Prime Minister outlined three key directives for the 2024 fiscal year, which include:

    1. Proper management of powerful figures

    2. Rewarding whistleblowers

    3. Protecting witnesses

Karom further stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed officials to maintain social order by clamping down on influential groups misusing their power.

A focus has also been placed on streamlining administrative operations and prioritizing public safety. He urges provincial administrators to swiftly take action against community leaders who intimidate or harm citizens and break the law.

The latest data reveals that approximately 600-700 individuals are on the Interior Ministry’s list of influential figures. A meeting is scheduled for October 3rd to discuss further actions.

The government identifies 16 types of activities that qualify an individual as an influential figure. These range from unauthorized money lending to being involved in drug-related activities.

Karom urges the public to report any such activities to the authorities through various hotlines, including 1195 and 1599, as well as to local "Damrontham" centers nationwide.

An excellent question to which I fear we all know the answer.

Chitty regime Chitty policies chitty chitty bangbang

As maturity /senility sets in I find my self increasingly in accord with your view of LOS the land of smirks, your post are either getting better or my ability to comprehend the depths of depravity, corruption and deceit apparent. The last election and Pheua Thai backing the coup makers and the 'soft' return of fraudster and mass murderer Thaksin and a convicted time served heroin dealer in the cabinet says it all.
