Multiple Songkran Revelers Fall Victim to Bag Thieves in Pattaya

Over 18 Songkran revelers filed reports at the Pattaya Police Station saying their bags had been cut open by thieves who subsequently stole their property.

On April 19th, during the celebration of Wan Lai in Pattaya, 18 individuals, including foreigners, filed reports with the Pattaya Police.

They said their bags and backpacks had been cut open by thieves while they were engaging in Wan Lai activities on Beach Road.

The thieves stole multiple belongings from the victims such as cash both in Thai and foreign currencies, smartphones, credit cards, and important documents.

The victims said they were disappointed with law enforcement officers for being unable to protect their property. They also urged the police to capture the culprits as soon as possible, saying the incident had ruined Pattaya’s reputation as a safe tourist destination.

Pattaya Police are investigating the incidents and reviewing CCTV footage to find the suspects.

Surprised that this has not happened more often during Songkran, you know everyone has a phone, money and possibly others goodies wrapped in plastic in their bags...

I can't find it but there's a brilliant video of some dork youtuber walking in Bangkok filming himself selfie style, and in the middle of his inane, unoriginal gibberish, a kateoy interrupts and embraces him for a few seconds and then moves on. He carries on, chuckling and gibbering, oblivious to the fact that in the process his gold necklace disappeared.
