Two Russian Tourists Fined 20,000 Baht for Jet skiing in Krabi

Due to the province’s environmental protection policies, jet skiing is prohibited in the southern Thai province of Krabi, where two Russian Tourists were fined 20,000 Baht.

Two Russian tourists claim they were unaware of the restriction on jet skis and other motorized water activities in Krabi province even though it exists to preserve the environment.

Two international visitors were seen jet skiing yesterday off the coast of Krabi by boat operators.

Two jet skis were discovered in the water this morning by Krabi Harbour authorities who went to Laem Pong Bay in the Nong Thale district.

A 47-year-old Russian guy admitted to the authorities that he and his wife had been using the jet skis the day before. He said they traveled by car, pulling two jet skis behind their vehicle, from Pattaya to Krabi.

He said neither he nor his wife knew that jet skiing was prohibited in Krabi province.

As the Russian visitor said, both jet skis are registered in Pattaya, according to the harbor authorities.

Due to his violation of the Environmental Control Act of Krabi province, the authorities escorted the Russian guy to the Krabi Provincial Harbour Office and fined him 10,000 baht per jet ski.

Additionally, the authorities spoke to the “appropriate agencies” about pursuing additional legal action.

In defense of the vacationers, Thailand’s jet skiing regulations are unclear. It is legal in Pattaya. It is permitted on some beaches in Phuket, such as Patong, Karon, Kata, Kamala, and Bang Tao, but not on others, such as Surin Beach.

However, after hearing of jet ski scams, many visitors no longer bother with the sport.

Tourists often hire jet skis only to be informed that they are broken when they return them. Two Chinese visitors were reportedly solicited for 200,000 baht by a jet ski operator on Bang Tao beach for “repairs.”

If you want to hire jet skis in Thailand, it’s crucial to research the company you choose, check the skis’ condition before you rent them, and stay clear of Krabi.

Or, alternatively, simply avoid Thailand altogether and visit another country more suited to civilised tourism and where the rule of law is clear, sensible and enforced intelligently in a manner applicable to all.

Fining those two is a cynical revenue exercise in judicial extortion.

Shitty country, shitty society, shitty people.

I went shopping today for British provisions in Jomtien, Branson pickle, Piccalilli, Manston’s sausages ( delicious ) and assorted bacon, and took the opportunity to do my 90 day report in the nearby Immigration office.
My word, that place was heaving but the sheer incompetence of the Thai in trying to deal with a relatively simple task was the worst I have seen. I was there at around 1330 hrs and folk who had queued at 0700 hrs to get a number for their place in the queue were still waiting to actually see someone. Those that had submitted their forms to get 30 day extensions were waiting hours to get the stamp in their passports.
Arriving folk had no clue what to do, most seemed to be newbies and Russian orcs, and the staff were uniformly abrupt, unhelpful and rude. I helped to raise morale among a few Brits and others there by articulating the very welcome sentiment Thai were a useless shower of ignorant twats who couldn’t organise a piss in a urinal.
Good news for retirees, though. Before, we had to Q with everyone else in the snake under the awning but now we go straight to the desk by the entrance where the 90 d@y report section is sited and on production of a completed form and confirmation you have your application supporting documents to hand, they give you a ticket which gets you into the building straightaway and in the short Q for retirees - 98% of all the visitors to immigration are all in other catego4ies.

    Finally, common sense prevails.

    Thai are bloody rude, though.

One would think such an expert would have worked out how to do it without going to immigration at all, instead of crowing about having his own desk to submit documents so he can go and join the sort of queue for which he ridicules others.

The online 90 day report is super. Works a charm. But of course our resident bitcher is not even aware it exists. Shows how much he really knows about life in the LOS. Nada, Zip, Zilch would be the key words.

If I lived in Bangkok again I would of course use the online facility given Laksi is an odyssey for most. But here in Pattaya it is an excuse to wander into Jomtien and bpai teeow, it being a short drive. Also, I don’t have a printer.

Quite how my own arrangements that I may make with the Immigration police should reflect upon my knowledge of broader Thai society, the cultural hallmarks of it and the idiosyncrasies of their incoherence and stupidity is somewhat difficult to understand. But then, I’m not a fucking stupid, frazzled Septic or Ocker idiot.

    "I don't have a printer".

It's easier to admit that you didn't know it exists or how it works rather than make yourself look even more foolish.

    Foolish?
    How so, ‘Arry?
The only time it is necessary for me to make use of one and it’s copying facility is visa time, once a year and then I use a friend’s machine or a cyber shop.
Doubtless you use it as much as that dildo of yours that you shove up your arse to turn on your fucking brain.

This is true. It used to be rubbish then they actually fixed it. As part of the upgrade I now receive an email reminder when my 90-days is coming up.
